Who: Sully Clan and the Omaticaya
Where: Pandora
What: Celebration of a successful hunt
When: Friday evening
Rating: TBD
Open: To all Jake's family and people
Status: Ongoing, multiple threads allowed and encouraged :D

OoC: The hunt would have taken all day, from first light until enough animals had been killed to help the Omaticaya replenish their supplies of food and materials. It would have involved hunters on Ikran and hunters riding Pa'li. Aaron and Laura would have been on Pa'li simply because bonds formed with those animals are temporary. Most of the animals on Pandora have bullet-proof skin, so they can only be killed by a clean shot in the part where they breathe (most animals on Pandora breathe through openings that lead straight to their lungs, unlike humans and Na'vi, who breathe through their mouths/noses) so Na'vi have to be very accurate when they're out hunting, or you just end up annoying the very big, very lethal wildlife. The youtube video linked below shows the hunting scene from the extended version of Avatar (with German dubbing!) so you can see what it's like.

Another successful Hunt! The talioang carcasses had been brought back to the Omaticaya's temporary home, so that they could be cleaned and worked on over the next few days, replacing some of the food and basic materials needed for day-to-day life that had been lost when Hometree fell. Jake had thanked everyone involved individually after Mo'at had thanked Eywa for Her good graces in allowing them to restock so late in the year, and then he had asked for some Ikran Makto to help him bring his other guests to the celebration. Other than the four who had come from the Island, only Mo'at knew who the guests really were; the rest of the clan thought they were other Avatar drivers and Jake was more than content to leave it at that.

At least twenty different Ikran Makto volunteered to help, which was fantastic, and Jake was very pleased to see that their ikran were older and therefore stronger than the younger ones. They were able to carry more people at the same time that way, and that meant they hadn't needed to do multiple trips between Hell's Gate and the temporary Hometree.

The large clearing that had been used for clan gatherings and for eating meals was filled with people. Small bonfires were dotted around the clearing, although the area in the center was left clear for dancing, and the smell of all the different foods filled the air. His Island family were here, and his People were here and they were all mixed together, talking to each other with... varying degrees of success. Not everyone knew Na'vi, and not everyone knew English, but there were enough people who knew both and were able to translate. Overall, things seemed to be going well.

He went to check on the food, which had been cooking and being prepared since the previous day, and was told that everything was good to go. Grinning, he thanked the Na'vi who had been working so hard on the food and then went back out to the crowd. Signalling the drummer as he walked, he leaped up onto the raised tree roots that were the focal point of the area just as a number of loud drum beats were sounded. Mo'at joined him, and Jake smiled down at Neytiri as she approached as well.

"[Brothers, Sisters! Eywa has blessed us with another successful Hunt]" he began, and went on to thank everyone involved yet again, describing some of the more exciting moments he had noticed and bringing cheers from the hunters involved as he did so. As he spoke, he could see some people talking softly to those around them, translating his Na'vi into English so that everyone could understand. He let Mo'at and Neytiri take over as they asked Eywa to help them to celebrate, while he absently reached out to let a couple of atokirina' land on his arm. He was getting used to the little seeds floating around after him now. As Mo'at dropped her arms, her part of the brief ceremony now done, Jake stepped forward again. "[I want to introduce my guests to you. They are my People, as much as you are, and they are all very dear to my heart. I know you will all make them feel welcome,]" he said, then switched to English.

"Oel ngati kameie, my tawtute brothers and sisters. The Omaticaya welcome you to our home. We hope that you enjoy tonight, and that you make fast friends. The food is over there. Try everything at least once. It's time to eat. Ftxozä si!"

Jay chuckled. "I'm sure you'd find it all 'good stuff'," he said but headed towards the food with his brother. He began to point out the various foods as they got nearer, using a mixture of Na'vi, English and taxonomy names in same cases. He also compared them to food from back home where he could.

"Seriously though, like Uncle Jake said, try everything. You'll soon work out what you really like and what you don't." Jay hadn't been wary of the Na'vi food when he'd tried it before. When you'd eaten various cooked or raw Earth insects before, new food wasn't so much of a big deal anymore. He reckoned Jake, at least, would like sago worms (the larvae of the Sago Palm Weevil) - especially as they tasted like bacon or pork rinds.

As for what Jay had been doing, well, that would probably take some time but he figured Tommy would want the less glossed over version. "I've been exploring, you know that. Making my own record of Pandora's flora and fauna." He had almost filled three journals already with notes and sketches. And he'd lost track of how many samples he had. "Oh! I found some fan lizards."

Tommy nodded as Jay pointed things out, then took the leaf he was offered by one of the villagers. He thanked the lady in Na'vi, and asked what they recommended, grinning when she tied in with what Jay had been saying. He lifted a sample of almost everything, and promised to be back for more.

He'd been about to start eating when Jay mentioned the fan lizards. "Awesome! Have you worked out how to catch a couple? I've been missing them since I got back to this time," he admitted, then ate the lump of mystery meat he'd been holding.

"Thih ih guhd!" he said round the food, enjoying whatever the spices and sauce were, as much as the meat itself.

Jay rolled his eyes but laughed at his brother's muffled approval of the food. "I had a feeling you'd say that," he said eating some of the assortment of food he'd picked up for himself.

He nodded at the question about the fan lizards. "I've been watching them for a while. Judging how easily spooked they are and the general reaction when they are. I can get quite close without them fanning but probably not enough to just pick them up. But, I reckon I can use a net to catch them easily enough."
