OoC: The hunt would have taken all day, from first light until enough animals had been killed to help the Omaticaya replenish their supplies of food and materials. It would have involved hunters on Ikran and hunters riding Pa'li. Aaron and Laura would have been on Pa'li simply because bonds formed with those animals are temporary. Most of the animals on Pandora have bullet-proof skin, so they can only be killed by a clean shot in the part where they breathe (most animals on Pandora breathe through openings that lead straight to their lungs, unlike humans and Na'vi, who breathe through their mouths/noses) so Na'vi have to be very accurate when they're out hunting, or you just end up annoying the very big, very lethal wildlife. The youtube video linked below shows the hunting scene from the extended version of Avatar (with German dubbing!) so you can see what it's like.

Another successful Hunt! The talioang carcasses had been brought back to the Omaticaya's temporary home, so that they could be cleaned and worked on over the next few days, replacing some of the food and basic materials needed for day-to-day life that had been lost when Hometree fell. Jake had thanked everyone involved individually after Mo'at had thanked Eywa for Her good graces in allowing them to restock so late in the year, and then he had asked for some Ikran Makto to help him bring his other guests to the celebration. Other than the four who had come from the Island, only Mo'at knew who the guests really were; the rest of the clan thought they were other Avatar drivers and Jake was more than content to leave it at that.

At least twenty different Ikran Makto volunteered to help, which was fantastic, and Jake was very pleased to see that their ikran were older and therefore stronger than the younger ones. They were able to carry more people at the same time that way, and that meant they hadn't needed to do multiple trips between Hell's Gate and the temporary Hometree.

The large clearing that had been used for clan gatherings and for eating meals was filled with people. Small bonfires were dotted around the clearing, although the area in the center was left clear for dancing, and the smell of all the different foods filled the air. His Island family were here, and his People were here and they were all mixed together, talking to each other with... varying degrees of success. Not everyone knew Na'vi, and not everyone knew English, but there were enough people who knew both and were able to translate. Overall, things seemed to be going well.

He went to check on the food, which had been cooking and being prepared since the previous day, and was told that everything was good to go. Grinning, he thanked the Na'vi who had been working so hard on the food and then went back out to the crowd. Signalling the drummer as he walked, he leaped up onto the raised tree roots that were the focal point of the area just as a number of loud drum beats were sounded. Mo'at joined him, and Jake smiled down at Neytiri as she approached as well.

"[Brothers, Sisters! Eywa has blessed us with another successful Hunt]" he began, and went on to thank everyone involved yet again, describing some of the more exciting moments he had noticed and bringing cheers from the hunters involved as he did so. As he spoke, he could see some people talking softly to those around them, translating his Na'vi into English so that everyone could understand. He let Mo'at and Neytiri take over as they asked Eywa to help them to celebrate, while he absently reached out to let a couple of atokirina' land on his arm. He was getting used to the little seeds floating around after him now. As Mo'at dropped her arms, her part of the brief ceremony now done, Jake stepped forward again. "[I want to introduce my guests to you. They are my People, as much as you are, and they are all very dear to my heart. I know you will all make them feel welcome,]" he said, then switched to English.

"Oel ngati kameie, my tawtute brothers and sisters. The Omaticaya welcome you to our home. We hope that you enjoy tonight, and that you make fast friends. The food is over there. Try everything at least once. It's time to eat. Ftxozä si!"

The hardest part about going through a door was, in fact, getting to the door in a timely fashion. It took effort not only because Cristiano could not breathe successfully out of water for more than twenty, thirty minutes if he pushed it, but also because he could not walk. Certainly, he was strong and performed several feats of acrobatics to hoist himself around, or up onto the wooden pier, but tails on land were not compatible.

So he begged of Juliet to help him go to Jake's party as a surprise for his friend. He did not tell Jake in advance he would or would not make it, only that he so dearly wanted to go. It felt good in his heart to realize he had made this friend, who was human and something else, who had similarities with him in ways he had not originally foreseen. It also felt good to have people to talk to, being the kingdom was lonely with only he and his Promised there. He was also certain it would make Juliet happy--which of all things mattered most to him.

Once getting to the door, and going through it, was completed, Cristiano's next great task was learning, as he did every time, how to walk. Walking, he had decided, was not as easy as getting back on the hippocamp. It was much more difficult and felt as if every pair of legs he received was the first time he ever walked. Only now he was blue--a particularly favorite color--with funny little ears and a tail of some variety.

More than a few times he'd whacked Juliet in the side or back of the leg with it, always apologizing as he hung at her arm for support.

Flying, also, was not Cristiano's favorite thing. Jake had taken him up into the pools a handful of times before and it was a big no on his part. Bad enough he had to stop swimming! Had to have legs! But flying in the sky like birds was just beyond his comfort zone, and so far out of it that he lay on the ground at the other side of the drop off, just outside of the party's limits, and groaned about it.

"I am never flying again!" he bemoaned as he lay there hugging the earth. "Angelfish, don't make me!"

Sookie had joined in the dancing as soon as she arrived at the party. At least she attempted to join in, copying the moves of the native Na'vi only had caused her to land on her butt each time. She was much better at science than being graceful. After a few tries, she decided a break was definitely in order. She excused herself from the amused Na'vi dancers and looked around for her siblings. The first one she noticed was Juliet, which made her look for Cristiano. When she saw him on the ground, she ran over. "What happened?" She hoped he was okay, and a part of her hoped he had been trying to dance too.

	The merman laughed loudly. "I would swim away from the shark, Angelfish!" Cristiano said. "You don't fight a shark. I would rather learn to tame an orca!" He made a face at the thought before leaning to kiss Juliet's cheek in thanks for her understanding. And because he could. "I will fall most, and then I will catch you. Everything will be fine!" 	Laura shook her head as her eyes touched on one or two that did know."They think we are like Jake was, before the island changed him. They assume we are somewhere in a pod, and these are our Avatar." She had to wonder if it felt different within an avatar, than it did as she was. Flesh to flesh, heartbeat to heartbeat.
