Personally, I don’t care if he uses one as long as he stays away from my things and isn’t attempting to attack me. But if he’s getting out a box cutter, we might as well pull up all the carpet and redo the whole room.

It's an option, I mean, the carpets are kind of drab. Something softer and more floofy would be better.
