Who: Kitty Pryde and Pyro
What: Damage control
When: Today
Where: Around town and through the doors

When she'd woken the day before she hadn't realized how much things were about to change. Both with the arrival of something so welcome and familiar and then something that sent a stab of shame through her. Not just because she hadn't told John about the wedding, but more because she had let it happen in the first place, she'd been too stubborn to admit that she'd known before it had all gone down that it wasn't going to work, that she had too much doubt to really commit herself to it, but she'd still let her mother walk her down the aisle, and she'd taken Piotr's hands and waited until there was absolutely no choice and then run like the coward she was.

The whole thing had been a mess, and though she'd told Bobby about it after she arrived, she hadn't talked about it sense, or even really let herself work through it. Bobby was good at making her laugh, at distracting her, but he hadn't been the sort of emotional support she'd needed at the time. But she'd let that happen too. And she hadn't talked about it since then, she'd gotten new clothes, she'd stuffed her wedding dress into a bag and tossed it into a corner that she didn't have to look at and that was it.

It was finished.

And then the invitation had shown up, for a wedding that had already taken place, and she realized not long after that it hadn't just come to her, and not even to just her and John, but to the entire town - Kitty didn't know how she was going to look any one of them in the face again without dying a little inside. \

But before she worried about any of that there was John to consider. John who wasn't replying to her messages, who didn't know about the wedding, who was no doubt blindsided by it. And though she almost didn't want to she needed to talk to him, to explain.

So she'd pulled herself together and gone to find him. Of course what she found was the very clear and obvious reminder that she had messed up this time, and not just a little bit by the smoldering remains that littered John's yard, or even the worried sounds that Squirtle was making from inside, she knew as soon as she saw it that John wouldn't just be sitting there waiting. She left Kasai there with Squirtle, telling them to take care of one another and try to put out the fires that still burned a little. And then went to find John.

Of course he'd gone through the doors, Kitty shouldn't have been surprised, but she followed the trail and found very clear evidence of him there. "John!" She called as she stepped through, she could fix this, they could fix this. "John, please."

"Pyro." John painfully growled at Kitty. Sure, he was John, but when in this state of mine, John needed to be buried. John was the type of person to let a woman in. John would laugh, and joke. Share stories or experiences. John would be the type of person who would be honest about himself, and let someone in to see what most did not get to. John would be the one to be blindsided by a secret marriage by someone he wanted to share his bed, home, thoughts, and most importantly... his fucking life.

Pyro did none of those things.

Keeping his walls up, he shifted his weight preparing for a fight. "Go home." Pyro willed her. "There is nothing here." Looking away with a pained look for a moment, he looked back with dead eyes. "Especially not a single fucking Russian tin man."

Shaking his head, more, Pyro dug his heels in. "What is there to talk about." He almost yelled. "We made a deal. One thing. One thing we agreed upon, and that was to not lie to the other." To drive his point forward he held his finger up to signify the one. "ONE!" With a sigh he took a step away from her. "Then you hide that. You'd hide that from me." His blood was boiling, and the loose flames around the area started growing intense.

"I gave Tony fucking Stark my blood when we were sick." Then he yelled. "FOR YOU!" Fucking ungrateful, that was for sure.

She wouldn't call him that - no matter how many times he said it - she hadn't since she arrived and she wasn't about to start now. Especially not now - when he was so hurt and she was aching because she'd done this. Everything was on fire and it was her fault and she worried that she was going to lose him - that he might just lose himself in something like this.

And if that happened Kitty would never forgive herself.

"John, please - let's just talk." She came closer even as he tried to put more space between them. She didn't want to fight, but she wasn't just going to walk away from him - not while he was here.

She didn't want to do it like this, here where he was so angry, and with tears in her eyes as she tried to talk to him. But it didn't seem like they were going to be able to do it any other way. "John, it's not like that. I didn't -" She had to pause to get a hold on her emotions that threatened to overwhelm her in the heat of his anger and the flames around them and what she had left behind.

"I left him." She said her voice breaking with the admission of what she'd done. "The day I arrived here was our wedding day. And I left him in the middle of the ceremony." She hated this, how it felt to admit things like this, to share this shameful secret of hers but he deserved to hear it. "I was still wearing my wedding dress when I showed up here. And I just -" She sobbed, "I just wanted to forget it, to move on and stop thinking about it."

There was a low growl in his throat while she called him John and closed the space between them. She needed to stay away because the thing he wanted to do last was hurt her on accident, but he was also Pyro and he wasn't going to stand down in his fury. Digging his heels in and psyching himself up, the flames grew larger and more intense. The heat would be incredible.

"Py-ro." John enunciated slowly. There wasn't anything to talk about, but she talked anyway, it killed him seeing the look on her face, which upset him more. He wasn't supposed to care. How was this a thing. While his fury was igniting him, he wanted to hug and hold her. Which infuriated him further. What the fuck.

"YOU HID IT!" John shouted. "NOT FROM PEOPLE, BUT FROM ME!" He shook his head. "This is your bed, lay in it." Pyro looked away from her. He could look at her like this. This was fighting dirty for sure. "You promised me..." He whispered before looking back. The pain in his eyes. "You." A small tremble in his lips before he shouted. "YOU! You were supposed to be different from the rest, but you too lied to me." It stabbed him deep, but the pain, it was bringing the flames down some.

She didn't stop coming closer, maybe he'd lash out - but she hoped he wouldn't, she hoped she could calm him down and herself and bring him home. She'd be fine though if he did, she knew how to protect herself when she needed to - she wasn't afraid of him, just for him. She'd seen so much good in him, had been on the receiving end of that good and she didn't want him to lose that because she'd made a stupid selfish mistake.

"I'm sorry!" Because she was, not just for what she'd done to him but what she'd done to Piotr too. And that knowledge only made her ache that much more, her face reddened from her sobbing. "I wasn't trying to hide it." She had of course, it had been something she'd kept to herself, but as long as Piotr didn't show up here it had felt like this place could be a clean start for her.

"I didn't want to tell you what an idiot I was." Because the whole thing had been an exercise in showing that off to all of her nearest and dearest. She hadn't wanted to tell him when they were just friends, a small part of her had worried what he'd do with knowledge like that, poke at the most tender parts of her - and then they'd become more and Kitty hadn't known how to say then either.

"Please, John. Come home with me. I'll tell you everything." The whole sordid tale if that was what he wanted.

John stepped back more. He felt if he was close to her, he would be able to keep the fury up like he had been. It was all he had to keep him going forward. Keep him from feeling whatever he was feeling. John shook his head at her. No. She wasn't going to pull him in to this one. He was fucking Pyro. He was strong, and she wasn't going to best him.

The apology rang out in his ears as she was trying to defend herself. Or at least explain her actions. John wanted to listen to her, but John also wanted to be angry.

"Idiot?!" John was floored. "You realize who you're talking to?!" Pinching the bridge of his nose, he was pretty much a king of doing stupid things, and she was fearing judgement from him. JUDGEMENT from the villain who was always judged. Ridiculous.

"THE DETAILS AREN'T IMPORTANT!" Which was true. John didn't care about the details, or the nitty gritty. It was what it was, and if he judged her for every little thing, well, she had a longer laundry list of his terrible actions, and to be fair- they were standing in the middle of one of his poor decisions. "I don't care about the why.." John finally choked on his words. "The what isn't the problem, Kitty..." He said finally using her name. "It's the you didn't..." He shook his head. She was so close to him at this point it was painful.

"I'm talking to you, John." She said it softly but with conviction because it was important to her that he knew that she didn't see just a villain when she looked at him, she saw something else entirely. "To the man who has been one of the most selfless people I've known since I've been here." Willing to give up his own life to save hers if that had been what it took - of course she worried what he'd think of something like that.

"I'm sorry, John. I shouldn't have kept it from you." Even if it hadn't been something she'd really meant to do - she wanted him to know that she knew better than that.

"Come home, John." She was almost close enough that she could touch him, but she didn't not yet. But she did reach out to him. "Please. This isn't you, I'm sorry - please, please don't let my stupid mistake make you do something like this." She wouldn't ever forgive herself for this, for pushing him into creating this kind of scene here in this place.

The people of this world didn't deserve this and it was all her fault. Because she'd let her own pride get in the way of the one good thing that she'd had going for her in this place.

She was right there. So incredibly close to him, and he could practically smell her if it wasn't for all the ash in the air. She was talking to him, and battering his defenses down. It pained him. It was painful, and John didn't like that.

Shaking his head, John wasn't about to give her that. "I'm not going home." John said with a somewhat shaky voice staring at her hand that was right there. She was right there. She was pleading with him, and he was just fighting it at this point to fight it. Truly, there was nowhere he wanted to be but with her, and this? His eyes took in the carnage before going back to her. Immediately, John knew she was blaming herself for it. They'd have to address that later.

"You.." John muttered at her. "Ugh." John groaned loudly, still obviously upset, but stepped forward right into her hand, but pushed it aside so he could pull her right into his arms into that tight hug. "Fuck." John said loudly. Not at her, but in general. "Crying is cheating." John muttered at her. Stupid fucking tears playing at his emotions.

She was going to keep on pleading with him until she couldn't any more, Kitty was never going to give up on John - not when she'd seen all the good in him and knew he could be so much more than all of this. But she couldn't leave him, whether or not the people of this world tried something or not she was going to stay there with him through it all.

And when he stepped close she wasn't sure what he wanted, but when he wrapped his arms around her Kitty pressed as close to him as she could get wrapping herself around him and sobbing against his chest as she held on to him tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." She said the words again and again needing him to hear them.

Cheating or not Kitty couldn't help it, not right then - her emotions getting the better of her and the combination of what she'd done to Piotr and then the way John had found out about it leading to all of this - it left her with no other choice but to cry.

She was supposed to be a leader and she couldn't even manage to be open with the one person in this place that she cared about the most. It was - well it was cowardly of her and her shame was overwhelming in those moments.

This woman. She was going to be his downfall if he folded like a wet napkin when she was sobbing at him. He just couldn't be appropriately mad at her that way, not that John actually wanted to be mad at her. The world, yes, her... never. There was just this ridiculous rage that was always built so deep in him, that he could be set of with the right push. In this instance, there was one thing after the other that fueled his rage, and this was the outcome.

Holding her tight to him, John felt the flames around them slowly simmer out. Holding her right close to him allowing her to take her time to cry and scream into his chest as she needed to. "Shh-" John whispered petting her hair to smooth it out. "We're going to be fine." He hoped, but what was a relationship without a bump here or there. "I'm sorry, too." John whispered at her. "You're probably very disappointed in me." Which was the thing that made him even more incredibly angry. That he was disappointing her in someway because his fury lead to him going down the path of villainy again.

"We're going to be fine..." Pyro managed to choke out.

Shifting and breaking the hug, John put both of his hands on her face and made her look at him. Jesus, he was an asshole for making her cry. Wiping tears away, he then pressed his lips to hers in a heated kiss.

Kitty hadn't been totally sure she even thought this would be possible, to not just find John again but to have him allow her close once more. After everything she wouldn't have been surprised if even if she could talk him down from all of this destruction - that he wouldn't want anything to do with her. But here he was holding on to her just as tightly as she'd clung to him and soothing her as he stroked a hand over her hair gently telling her that they would be fine.

She had made a mess of things, the evidence of that was all around them, and he was telling her it was going to be fine - she didn't deserve this at all. "I - what?" She shook her head but didn't step back from him yet, still too fragile to give up the solid weight of him against her. "No, I - this is my fault." He had done it maybe, but she'd been the one to push him to this.

Tears still rolled down her face but she'd managed to regain just a little bit of control once more and the sobs had died off for now when he stepped back enough to look at her. The way he looked at her, wiped tears from her face made her want to break down all over again. But instead he was kissing her, pressing his mouth to hers in a way that said so much that they hadn't actually given voice to and Kitty embraced it.

Her fingers tangled into his clothes and held on to him tightly as he kissed her, needing this just as much as she'd needed his arms around her.

To be fair, John hadn't known what his own actions were going forward. John was truly just flying by his whims, as he would do. Though when he saw Kitty, his mind was on her and her alone. His fury was taming and that did annoy John, considering he wanted to be angry. So now it was turning into anger for angers sake, and that was pointless.

Well, yes. It was her who caused the catalyst for John, but even John in his now slightly less infuriated mind could see he was particularly over reacting. "Equal parts." John compromised. His fury was his own, which was not her doing. She could own her hiding that information, but he'd never let her take responsibility.

Though the kiss. Wow this kiss. It was fierce and desiring. Despire all his rage, he still had these feelings for Kitty, and the kiss would show that. Pulling her firmly against him he deepened the kiss to show just how much he still cared despite what happened just earlier. Just because silly mistakes, didn't mean you let the world burn. Well, you did if you were Pyro.

Breaking the kiss with a gasp, he was winded a little from that, and even desired more. "We're going to be fine." He told her again confidently, before dipping down and pressing his mouth to hers again in a much more wanting kiss than previously.

They could talk more about the fire and the destruction, Kitty thought - for the moment it was the furthest thing from her mind. Far more focused n the way John held her then, and kissed her. Keeping this from falling apart selfishly mattered more to her than trying to chastise him about all of this around them. So when he suggested equal part responsibility she just nodded.

The kiss said a lot, that he still wanted her loudest of all, that he wasn't ready to just throw all of this away because she'd kept this from him, that they could fix this and move forward from it together.

It was a relief when he agreed again that they were going to be fine. She clung to him as he kissed her again and pressed into it her own desire for him plain in it.

"Come home," She said when she pulled back, just enough to plead with him just a little. This place was - well it had endured enough of his rage, and she worried that before too long they'd have bigger issues on their hands than the flames that he wielded so eagerly. "Come home with me."

He'd have his own atonement to make for the destruction he caused today. There wasn't anyone killed from his destruction, so that might have been an improvement from old Pyro? Who knew. Point being he knew he had changed since saving Kelly and being here and most of all being with Kitty.

It was amazing what a kiss could say to another person. This one specifically. They had issues, but this was nothing they couldn't rebound from.

Home. Back in... god forbid the name still.. Starklandia. John nodded to her request of going home with her. "Okay. Let's go home." John offered a smile taking her hand in his. It was probably the wisest idea, considering that this place could be sending much bigger things after him.

Taking her hand in his he pulled her with him towards their exit. Carefully, he walked with her not saying much. He'd bet they were going to be having a whole lot to talk about when they get back. At least they both were open to talking.
