Who: Romana & the (10th) Doctor.
When: Thursday Afternoon.
Where: The streets of this Winter Wonderland.
What: Getting to know the place.
Rating/status: OPEN/TBD

Well, this was certainly unexpected. Not only she had awoken from a vert pleasant nap to find herself stranded in the middle of a city. New York City to be precise. If you wanted to be more specific, August 11th 1964. It had a nice ring to it. Romana remembered hearing wonders about the time period. Snow at the beginning of August was certainly not one of them.

Yet another mystery to investigate. After getting a room on the so-called Welcome Center, Romana had changed into the closest thing she had to winter clothes (not that the cold made any difference to her). She walked outside, feet sinking under impossibly white snow. It certainly looked dangerous.

But Romana was not about to let that inconvenience get in the way of research. she walked down the street, careful with the icy patches. It wouldn't do to start falling just after arriving here.

She stood by a stoplight, examining the names of the streets and pondering her actions. A few others had braved the elements as well. they passed by, trying to pay no attention to the girl in the pink outfit.

The Doctor paused just outside the doors to the TARDIS with one hand on the handle. "Things you should know? No. Not really. Except ... none of them have ever met another Time Lord. Well, actually, Martha has. The Master. And I suppose Donna has. Sort of. In a way. No one you know. It's complicated."

He considered, momentarily, telling Romana more, telling her what he'd told his companions of Gallifrey, what he'd seen with them, but decided against it. Details had a way of coming out on their own. No need for him to help things along, not when, eventually, talking to his companions would lead Romana to asking awkward questions.

[ooc: No need to worry! Hope things are all right. ♥]

"The Master?" Romana's eyebrows raised in alarm. "Please tell me he's nowhere to be found in this place, Doctor!"

"I'm sure we will all get along wonderfully," she said as she waited for the Doctor to open the door. "Maybe other Time Lords will show up... or the same." A part of her remained hopeful and really missing "her" Doctor.

"He's gone," the Doctor said, and in the privacy of his mind thought, Like you. "Definitely not here. I'd know if he were here. I'd feel him." At least, he liked to think that he would. He'd had a sense of his old friend on Earth, when the Master had managed to resurrect himself

"I'm sure you and the rest will get on swimmingly. Well, maybe not swimmingly isn't the right word, but I'm sure you'll all have plenty to gossip about. Please try not to keep the laughing and pointing to a minimum. It's just eerie when I walk in on two women doing that. Rose and Sarah Jane couldn't stop, and they never did tell me what it was all about."

Romana didn't press the issue. If the Master was gone, it was for the best. She certainly didn't want to see him again.

"I promise I'll try," she said. "Although the fact that you've mentioned it has piqued my curiosity. I don't think I've ever been one to do any of those things." Sounded like fun though.

The Doctor smiled at her and pushed the door open, stepping aside to allow Romana to enter first.

"Well?" he asked, once he'd followed her inside and shut the door. "What do you think?"

Romana stepped in, ready to be surprised. And surprised she was.

The first thing she noticed were the colors. Gone were the white and the metals of those days. The console was still there of course, but it was not the one she remembered. The whole room lacked the comforting semblance of sobriety of the TARDIS she remembered.

And yet, she found solace in it. Appearances aside, this had been her home of sorts for a long time. She had missed it.

"I like it," she finally said. "It has a nice organic feel to it." She moved closer to the console. "You've expanded it quite a bit."

It seemed ages since he'd had a layout in the control room that was as Spartan as Romana was accustomed to seeing. Before the Time War, he'd had a lovely Gothic theme that he had quite liked, though these days it seemed too dour in addition to being a painful reminder of the past.

"I'm glad," he said, when Romana expressed her approval. "She's been like this for a while now, since the last me. Your room ought to be the same as it was, though, unless you'd like a change. Do you want me to help you find it? There are so many more people here than usual that the TARDIS might not be able to put the door exactly where you expect it."
