Who: Romana & the (10th) Doctor.
When: Thursday Afternoon.
Where: The streets of this Winter Wonderland.
What: Getting to know the place.
Rating/status: OPEN/TBD

Well, this was certainly unexpected. Not only she had awoken from a vert pleasant nap to find herself stranded in the middle of a city. New York City to be precise. If you wanted to be more specific, August 11th 1964. It had a nice ring to it. Romana remembered hearing wonders about the time period. Snow at the beginning of August was certainly not one of them.

Yet another mystery to investigate. After getting a room on the so-called Welcome Center, Romana had changed into the closest thing she had to winter clothes (not that the cold made any difference to her). She walked outside, feet sinking under impossibly white snow. It certainly looked dangerous.

But Romana was not about to let that inconvenience get in the way of research. she walked down the street, careful with the icy patches. It wouldn't do to start falling just after arriving here.

She stood by a stoplight, examining the names of the streets and pondering her actions. A few others had braved the elements as well. they passed by, trying to pay no attention to the girl in the pink outfit.

The Doctor did indeed have a fairly good idea of when to visit Earth, despite his often haphazard landings, and he was thankful to say that the decade in which they were currently trapped was one of the better ones.

At the mention of Adric, however, he seemed to withdraw again. He lowered his gaze to the sidewalk and swallowed against another unwelcome swell of emotion. "We did, but ... Well. It's complicated. I don't like to dwell on it. Not really. It was a long time ago for me. I must have traveled with a dozen other people since then."

Romana was not surprised to hear about Adric not being around. But she had to admit she was a bit crestfallen. It would have been nice to have another familiar face.

"Maybe he'll show up," she said, trying to conceal her dissapointment. She smiled at him. "So, Doctor... what makes this particular decade so interesting?"

"It's a very busy decade. You have the moon landing, the Beatles, political independence for African countries, President Kennedy, the civil rights movement, the Bay of Pigs, civil unrest in China, the Vietnam War--which, technically, wasn't a war since it was never declared--the first computer game, the first ATM, Elvis Presley ... Honestly, there's too much to condense into a single conversation. You should have a look at the library in the TARDIS. There should be plenty there to keep you busy."

"Oh, I plan to Doctor," she admitted. "Other than going and exploring this place, which I fully intent to, what better way to learn about it than through the books? You always keep such an impressive collection in the TARDIS."

They had arrived to the Welcome Center. "Would you like to wait for me here?" she offered. "I won't be long as I only need my bag and my notes."

The Doctor grinned at her as she complimented his collection. He did tend to acquire things, and useful things at that. Besides, his TARDIS was splendid when it came to accommodations, right on down to her library.

"Go on then," he said when they reached the Welcome Center and Romana made her offer. "I'll be here once you've got it all. Then it's just a quick hop-skip and step 'round the corner to the TARDIS."

"Less than four minutes," Romana said before walking inside. It was indeed a short visit. All her things fit into a small bag. She was tempted to put her sonic screwdriver there as well, but placed in her pocket instead. You never knew when it was going to be needed.

After leaving a note and her keys at the reception, she was out once again. "Less than four minutes," she said again with a smile. "I look forward to being inside the TARDIS again."

The Doctor's impeccable sense of time told him exactly how long Romana had taken, and it was indeed under four minutes. He beamed at her as he held out a hand for her bag. Oh, he was still hopelessly rude in this incarnation, but he was also something of a ladies' man.

"Less than four minutes to the TARDIS as well. She's a bit different than when you last saw her, but I'm sure she still has your room ready to go. She's quite good at that. Even managed to pull up Amy's room for her even though we met out of order."

Romana shook her head in amusement, but she handed the bag.

"I look forward to find my old room. And the rest of the rooms as well, old and new. Has the console room changed too much?"

"A good deal since you last saw it, yes," the Doctor warned. "I like it. In fact, I like it so much, I've kept it through two regenerations. Once you're settled, you can reacquaint yourself. Just don't give the TARDIS an excuse to go anywhere. I don't fancy being shouted at if anyone comes looking for her after a long day of work and she isn't where she ought to be."

"I won't take her anywhere," Romana promised. "Besides, I've heard that the best way to get to know this city is to walk around. I look forward to exploring it."

"Is there anything I should know in the particular about the people currently living in the TARDIS?" she asked. Even if she hadn't met them yet, it would be nice to know if there was anything she would saying in front of them - or anything that should be said in front of them anyway.

OOC: Sorry for the delay! Real life went crazy
