I thought it was generally agreed that the end of the flirting WAS the end of the most enjoyable part of Moonlighting.

And I say that as someone who was never a huge fan of the show as Bruce Willis in that era is so hideously smug I just wanted to punch him repeatedly. Also the sidekick guy they brought in as a romance for the secretary woman somehow radiated a low level of grubby sleaze wherever he went, not sure why.

It was the end, but I believe it was the end because Cybil Sheppard and Bruce Willis began to (a) hate each other and (b) want to move on to other projects around that time.
