I like how of course he wants to hit Canary for being mouthy. Of course he does. But he doesn't, because he's the hero, and that means he takes all that perfectly natural, inevitable masculine anger and dominance and turns it against the guys who *don't* control themselves. Frank Miller, John Ringo: separated at birth?

Because he's clenching his fist or did I miss some dialogue? I did get all distracted by the "Thomas Jefferson and all that" typical Batman dialogue.

I do think this Batman wants to punch everybody. All the time. He's just that manly.

"Nice enough VOICE, but she's a CHEEKY one. Pushing her LUCK...."

It's what the "that" in "Nuts to THAT" is. He's dismissing his impulse to whack her and shut her up by reminding himself that she has the right to be uppity if she pleases. After all, Jefferson says so! And he was a Manly Man as well. I think he wrestled bears bare-chested.

Oh, Crazy Batman, it's good that you held back.
Thomas Jefferson scores 3: The Declaration of Independence, Jeffersonian Democracy AND Batman's understanding of some kind of idea about free speech.

I often wonder if Miller knows much about the world besides Spillane and ninjas.

I had a friend pick up Ringo's book Ghost, open it up to a random page, and had to ask me why I was reading a sex-bondage book. And I'd rather answer that question to why I'm reading stuff by Frank Miller.
