Bonnie had missed Elena terribly. She understood the conditions of the spell that Kai had put on them. Elena would sleep and the only way she would wake up was if Bonnie died. It was a lot of pressure. Bonnie had a lot to come to terms with. The last time she saw Elena was supposed to be the last time. She was never going to see her again. She was never going to hang out with her and sing crappy songs with her in the car, she was never going to argue with her again, or do anything that best friends did. Instead, Bonnie had a long life ahead of her without Elena. And now that she was in Salem, she had Elena. Elena was back and alive and Bonnie didn’t even care that she was from a different time. She was just glad that she was back.
It wasn’t to say that Bonnie wasn’t feeling a loss. Before coming to Salem, she had not only lost Elena, but she lost Damon too. It was difficult for Bonnie. She missed him, she couldn’t lie - okay she could. She could lie pretty well. Her poker face was pretty good, but she couldn’t lie to herself. She missed him. In Elena’s absence, the two of them had gotten closer and she even considered him her best friend. He was there. He saved her life, he listened to her ramble and they were just there for eachother. It just hurt a whole lot when he decided to desiccate in a coffin next to Elena knowing damn well that he would never see Bonnie again. That she would never see him. It was selfish, but that was who Damon was, for better or worse. She just thought their friendship meant more. That she meant more. She was wrong and it was a hard pill to swallow, but that’s where she was now.
And all of that Mystic Falls drama was just pushed from her mind as she walked alongside Elena. They were talking about something stupid and the two of them were laughing and it just felt amazing. That she could laugh with her. A few days ago, Bonnie had the wild and stupid idea of going on a sailboat and it was freezing, but she didn’t care. She couldn’t find one reason to really care because she was with her two friends and since when could they have done that. Bonnie was different, she was changed. She was living for now and herself instead of living for other people, especially in Salem. She wasn’t just a go to witch to get them out of a situation, she was just Bonnie and she loved it. … And she really didn’t want to leave Salem. Which was crazy, she knew. She hated prison worlds, she hated being trapped, but how could she leave this? There was no way. Especially when she looked at Elena.
“So, I know it’s no different to you because you don’t remember being in a coma world, but uh, how do you like Salem?” She asked, looking over at Elena. “I for one, do not want to leave. Ever.” She grinned and looked ahead. There was no way she would. She would fight it every step of the way.
