"Hell yeah, I do," Dixon said. "You might be goofing around and well, a little drunk but I know a voice when I hear one. You got an instrument in there."
"She does," Elena piped up. Bonnie gave her a look but Elena shrugged. "You do!" she exclaimed. "I've heard you singing along in the car to one too many pop songs. I know you sing." Elena never siad anything because Bonnie didn't love the spotlight, that was Caroline's thing. Caroline liked performing and theater was the perfect major for her. Bonnie was a lot more reserved but equally as talented.
"See I knew it," Dixon said. "I guess you'll need to come back for more karaoke nights so we can see what's up."
"Oh, we'll be back," Elena promised and gave Bonnie a rotten little smirk. Because she was actually enjoying watching this flirtation. She didn't know Dixon from jack and chances were good he was evil or some kind of witch or vampire or whatever but right now this felt normal and nice and Bonnie was almost blushing so it was cute. Elena wanted her friend to be happy.
"Good. I'm glad to hear that. And hey, if you ever want to try recording something, maybe you give me a call?" Dixon thought he was sly by handing his card to Bonnie but he was really just trying to show off. He really did work in the music business back home and the business card didn't exactly prove it but it didn't hurt his case either.
Bubba was wrapping up his rendition of Kiss By A Rose so Dixon stood up. "Nice meeting you, Bonnie," he said giving her a grin. "You too, Elena." And then he was back up on stage on the microphone introducing the next singer.
