Campaign Season is in Full Swing!

Van had a meet & greet in the cafeteria last Friday! He was practicing being nice and approachable, and Ewan was helping him out with that by snagging people for Van to talk to about his campaign. It was a special place in hell for Van, but maybe your character came to chat? If so, let me know! It didn't have to go well.

Additionally: appearing around campus and Camden are a variety of Vans (the shoe) stickers, some with the word Vote written in black sharpie marker on the edge. Van recruited Caitlin and Tanek to help him Banksy the the hell outta the place. There'll be about a hundred stickers stuck to all kinds of surfaces. Doors, windows, traffic signs, bowling balls at Strike, the backs of theater seats at Marvin and Martin, the tables at Duke's Diner, bathroom stall walls at the Academy, dorms, desks, etc. They're hard to get off and are made to be car decals, so they last a long time. No one sees who is putting the stickers all over, but it's assumed to be Van and his friends.

In the hallways and in the House dorms, Van and his friends are putting up posters like this. They're simple and minimal. If they're removed, two more appear on the spot the next day.

Student Body Elections

[info]saintly_mods
[info]saint_ooc
Hello everyone!

You may have already noted this on the game calendar. This Friday, Sept. 23, during school hours there will be an assembly for the entire student body. Everyone will gather and hear the speeches prepared by those running for Student Body office. We wanted to give you some info on sort of how we do that here, for anyone who is new or just curious. )

Other Side of the Hump!

We made it! The holidays are behind us and that means there are ~6 more months of school left for these kiddos before summer break! Welcome back or soon to be back to all the players and the mod team. We'll all soon be in our seats again to do some fun scenes and plots.

The mods want to take this opportunity to cover some important details so that everyone is on the same page regarding the student body elections (first talked about HERE):

  • This year is a fluke! Normally, we would have already had the elections at the beginning of the '15-'16 year, but since we had a late start going into it, we're just going to handwave this in the interest of giving the existing students some fun plot fodder.
  • Since this is a small private school and there are already offices such as House Mentors, we're simplifying the offices for student body. The offices and who is running in them (non NPC) are as follows:
Class President: James, Paxton, and Bushara
    Vice President: Sara
    Secretary/Treasurer: Jae
  • How does the whole Student Body Presidency work in concert with the House Mentors, you ask? Well, they are separate but equal! Neither is over the other, ranking wise, but Mentors may go to the President with House concern as they see fit, and the President and his/her officers may go to the Mentors for a feel on the needs of the individual Houses.
  • On Friday, January 29th, there will be a debate assembly/pep rally where the whole school will gather in the auditorium and each candidate will be given 10 minutes for a speech. Players will be given the opportunity to post in the scene their candidate's speech. This will weigh heavily come election time!
  • The actual voting will be held on Monday, February 1st with results given by the end of the week. When the time comes, we'll post a scene for elections with screened comments. You'll be given the chance to cast your character's vote anonymously and we'll tally at the end.

  • That about sums it up!

Other events to look forward to:
The Polar Bear Dive Fundraiser: Brought to us by Ladon House as an annual tradition, usually towards the end of January.
Valentine's Day Secret Admirer Roses Fundraiser: Brought to us by Sara who is hoping to make it an annual tradition for Pegasus House.

More details on these coming up!

Thanksgiving Break & Student Body Pres

    [info]saintly_mods
    [info]saint_ooc
    Thanksgiving Break
You'd think we'd be used to this with it being our third Thanksgiving since the game started, but every year we forget what we did the previous year for the holiday. And so, we're going to establish it henceforth!

Because it is a rather large and unavoidable family centered holiday in the US, the school will be closed for a couple days in order for students to go be with their home crew for a quick break before the full winter break comes closer to Christmas time. Classes this coming week will continue Monday and Tuesday, and then students will be released from Nov. 25 - Nov. 29. (important: the full moon nights this month are the 24, 25, and 26.)

Students who stay at the school will be given a feast, of course! The dining hall will be in business for most of Thanksgiving Day with all kinds of different foods. Since most of the students (and the Academy itself) are international and are probably unfamiliar with Thanksgiving, the teachers who know what's up will be more than happy to share what it's all about in their classes if anyone has any questions.

    Student Body Presidency
This is a thing we've been meaning to do for a while, but have yet to really have any students be proactive about campaigning for office - probably due to the fact that there are no established guidelines to go by, eep! What do you guys think about running a quick elections for this current school year, and then kicking it in at the beginning of the next school year and so on?

I think that covers everything! If you have any questions, ask away!

    Cheers!

[EDIT:] Oops, also! Just FYI, upcoming events are tentatively scheduled as follows:

The annual dance/choir/band recital is Saturday December 12th.
The school play/musical will be held on Saturday December 19th.
Winter Break will (probably) kick in December 23d and continue thru Jan 10th. More info on this to come.
