PSA

This time of year is always crazy busy for us all, so don’t worry if things slow down. They do every year and pick back up again in January. Have patience for your fellow players and if you have any urgent or pressing questions about characters or what have you, message the player directly. Otherwise, feel free to Drop Box us or shoot us an email: missmenidesknowsitall@gmail.com. We’ll always get back to you!

With January approaching, we’ll be doing a little bit of New Years cleaning of the cast/player page. 🧹 If you or your character haven’t been active in the last, say, two months or more, you’ll receive a courtesy email inquiry about your continued interest in the game. If we don’t get a response or you agree that you’ve been inactive too long and it’s time to call a spade a spade (heh), we’ll include it in our cleaning efforts. Everyone who makes activity before January will be exempt, of course!

Upcoming fun events for January and February include our annual Polar Bear Dive, the Secret Admirer Valentine fundraiser, and keep an eye peeled for our developing game plot! Hints are dropping weekly. ;)

Cheers!

Small Change

[info]saintly_mods
[info]saint_ooc
This is a notice that we've added a small change to the character application. This change is only for new characters who have been at the school for some time already. In the history section, we've added that for existing staff or students, it is now required to write 5 rumors related to the character's reputation: 2 good, 2 bad, 1 false. These will be things existing characters will have overheard.

We think this small change will help characters get better footing in the community when they're new to the game, but known in the overall story line.

Since we're sitting on several applications right now, and some of them fit this type of character, we totally encourage you to go back and add these rumors.

That's all!

FYI - About Dungeon Detention

[info]kelps
[info]saint_ooc
Quickie posty for information's sake: Van ate half a human, oops. And the Headmistress had to intervene. So he's serving detention in the dungeons for a while. Prob two weeks max.

Dungeon detention is what happens when students lose control of their supernatural side and cause harm to others, whether they be other students, staff, or the norms. It's meant to have them think about what they've done while being mostly isolated from the rest of the population.

The dungeons are actually quite comfortable. Each cell has a bed, a rug, a desk, and all the books needed for school assignments. They're usually also allowed (depending on the severity of their crime) to have their computers, so network communication can happen. There are bathrooms and showers down there and their meals are brought to them as needed.

At the end of dungeon detention the student will have an interview with the Headmistress to determine if they've learned from the ordeal. Ms. Menides knows it all, and if she feels like there is still more the individual has to learn, then back into the dungeons they go.

It's used very sparingly and only when the student has become a danger to those around him/her. It's considered the most severe detention punishment the school gives out, the next being full expulsion from the Academy.

If anyone has any questions about dungeon detention, let us know!

~*~*~*~THE MORE YOU KNOW.~*~*~*~

Van is pretty horrified by what he almost did and is keeping it on the ~downlow, though his absence in classes and around campus could potentially be noticed enough for students to inquire if they're up to it. Ms. Menides made sure to give him visions of potential futures if he ever attacked a human again, and it included a very gruesome death of his friends by his hand-- Er, hoof. So. He's been properly lambasted.

Welcome Back!

[info]saintly_mods
[info]saint_ooc
We hope everyone had a wonderful summer break and went on some marvelous adventures! Now it's time to buckle down and get back to class - so to speak.

August 14th marks the first day of the 2017-2018 school year, huzzah! Please feel free to post your own characters' summer updates at your leisure, be it OOC entries summarizing or summer narrative/threads you've been working on while we were on summer break. All teachers and students are expected to be returned to the school by Sunday, August 13th to resume classes. Standards report to the Academy up to a week early to have their orientation before the upperclassmen arrive.

This being a new semester, please update your characters' CURRICULUM. Keep in mind that they can repeat the same class, but consider it the next advanced level. Also remember to update your characters' grade (Standard, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert) accordingly.

House Mentors for the coming school year are to be announced! Members who play teachers who are Head of House, please see to it that your teacher assigns two mentors. These can be NPCs if there is no one ICly appropriate. Remember, Mentors are Experts only.

The start of the school year also means the start of the Class Presidency! If your character is ambitious enough to run for Student Body President, they need to get busy campaigning. We will need a President, a Vice President, and a Treasurer. These can be any year, however a student who becomes a Mentor cannot also be a member of the Presidency.

Last but not least, we have new characters! Three brand new Standards are coming into the game. Please take the time to hit the FRIEND ADD button on all your IC journals.

Once again, welcome back! We look forward to another exciting school year.

Cheers!

Finals, Last Day, Start of Summer Break

[info]saintly_mods
[info]saint_ooc
Greetings Players!

We're very sorry for the late notice on this and thank you for your patience. The mod-team is encumbered by RL things this week. This week (May 25-29th) is FINAL EXAMS. That means your students and teachers are already neck deep in tests.

Next week will be the last week of school for all students. Teachers are probably going easy in these last days after exams, but some may be sticklers expecting performance! NOTE: If you don't think your student is going to do well on tests enough to move ahead a grade, let us know! Summer courses are offered to make up for things like that. ALSO: Please let us know if your teacher is going to be doing any summer courses and what it is! We'll add it to the curriculum page. Summer courses will commence in July!

The full moon nights are June 1-3, conveniently after finals so our weres aren't losing sleep on top of cramming studies.

Graduation is Friday June 5th! After commencement ceremony, students are officially free-range for the summer and our Experts will be leaving the school. REMEMBER: Expert Level characters are allowed to stay in the game until the end of summer, at which point they'll be moved to Emeritus Status.

Go. Play. Have Fun.

Cheers!

[info]saintly_mods

Full moon this January will be on the 4th, 5th and 6th.

What will happen to the Experts? )

In terms of softening the blow, I will also up the character limit by one. Cheers!

Holiday! + Rules Revisement

[info]saintly_mods
[info]saint_ooc
Easter
Following this Easter weekend, there will be no classes for a week, meaning your characters have the week off! Huzzah! They can go home (if they want) or hang around the school grounds. Next week will also kick off the tourist season in Camden (and according to the weather, it will be nice and springlike) which means there will be a fair and a small music festival. Feel free to add on this for your characters, as long as the activities are appropriately small-towny.

Friday, there won't be classes as well, but the school will have a big Easter brunch before declaring holidays.

Rules Revisement
I'm introducing a new rule for new characters: if you are applying your second character (or beyond that), you should have at least one witch, one vampire or one were.

That's it for now! Cheers!
