[Doesn't snap out of it suddenly like normal, just sinks to put his chin on the table, head in his hands and eye squeezed closed.

It IS years of information, that scattered way memories have of bursts of vividness amidst a faded sea of half forgotten every day events and vague chronological understanding of events.

Most, are repressed almost immediately into the subconscious memory just in self defense, making what's on the surface confusing out of order and incomplete.]
