While the existence of mutants is no longer the stuff of urban legends, mutants themselves still face difficulty and danger when they reveal themselves. Charles Xavier had always wanted to help his fellow mutants and also slowly prepare the world for wide scale acceptance of mutantkind. To that end he, with help from Erik Lehnsherr and Raven Darkhölme, converted his family mansion into a haven for young mutants disguised as a private school. They began taking in students, teaching them to control their mutations in safety. But as the threat of mutant dissidents grew and governments grew more fearful of mutants, they realized they needed a more proactive solution. They began training a team of older students and staff to combat both threats to mutantkind and mutants who threatened humanity, calling themselves the "X-Men." Now, these would be heroes are about to reveal themselves. It should be quite an initiation. | |
