Wasn't having a great day. Had just come back from the Capital, where he'd been surveying the damage to the bookstore. Had gotten away with the falsehood about not being there when the place was demolished. Looked like a meteor had fallen right into the middle of the place. Problem was, there hadn't been any meteors. Police were baffled. Fire department was baffled. Already knew insurance wasn't going to cover the destruction. Hadn't started thinking about the fact that there was demonic and holy spillover everywhere. Right now, was just focusing on this clock thing. Was bruised up, had one hell of a bump to his head, limped. Was nothing compared to how Janus had looked. All of it was unimportant at the moment. Had arrived at the B&B early, to work with Rey on a perimeter, some way to make this whole clock thing safer. Was hard to prepare for, not knowing what would happen. Hadn't exactly done a great job at preparing in the bookstore; tried not to let that get to him. Had set up a protective circle in the middle of the mostly empty room. Also had wards on the windows and doors. Wasn't going to protect any of them from memories, but would protect anyone outside the room. Was counting on Rey to do the rest, if she was comfortable with the gathered crew: Rey was planning on assembling the clock from a distance, with her ability, while it was inside the protective circle. Was the safest option they'd been able to come up with. Now, leaned back against the desk, hip to wood, in layers, unshaved, bruised up, and looking tired. Went without saying that he was hoping this would go smoothly. |
