Thoughts on a marathon of pain [Sep. 19th, 2007|07:15 pm]

I want to thank everyone again for holding my hand during the marathon of pain that covered episodes 216, 217, 218, 219, and finally, 220.

I know I joked around a lot, but it was genuinely hard. I may need to look into getting a life, but this show? It just owns me.

Now you're looking at me going duh Xie we kind of figured that out, yo.

Anyway, I saw a lot of people saying they were going to assuage their distress by watching 308-314, and I want to make a plea that you instead go to 301. Yes, Brian still has a way to fall, and yes, Ethan's feet of clay cause Justin yet more pain.

But there is so much beauty in those four episodes as we see the two of them come back to themselves, and the horrible dark cloud of static electricity and pain that permeated that loft dissipates the minute Justin finally gets himself out of there.

I'm hoping someone will want to do a 301-304 marathon now, or a S3 marathon that starts there, so I'll stop now, but if you jump ahead to 308, I genuinely think you miss a lot of what makes the hurt better.

Because the pain of late S2 wasn't that Brian and Justin broke up, it was that they each individually broke down. And we see that turn around in those four episodes.

I'd also like to invite anyone who hasn't commented yet on any of the episodes, please, jump in! 220 in particular has very few comments (either because I lost my touch or because OMG IT HURTS WAY TOO MUCH), but I spent three hours writing it... yes, I'm a geek ... and I'd love to hear what you might have to say about that episode.

Anyway, regardless of what gets marathoned next, thank you all so much for taking part in this one! I know many of you were depressed by this arc, and I was too, but I'm very glad I did it. And if is hurts too much, my dog Rebel wrote a series of 21 post-216 kitten drabbles that are an AU fix-it fic for this arc, and I highly recommend them as therapy. ;)

See you at the next marathon, whatever it may be!

Love,

Xie
