Brian thinks Justin is stupid when he gives those warnings against recreational drugs. It’s stupid and not to mention hypocritical. But at the same time, he wonders if it’s good thing to stay away from drugs if it leads Justin to reveal secrets like this:
“When Molly was born, I got really jealous because my parents kept on buying her all these cute, pink clothes. Huh. I was an odd boy back then.
“Stupid bitch.”
Brian is pretty sure Justin just called Molly a “stupid bitch.” Quietly and carefully, Brian takes the joint from Justin’s hand and puts it out.

I looked in the mirror, noticing a new wrinkle by my eye. Some people call them laughter lines, I call them getting old. No gray in my hair though, my eyes still bright and shining as I turned my head this way and that.
Another year had passed, and if I tried I could forget for an instant that today was my 40th birthday. My days of being Peter Pan were long past but at least I wasn’t so old I couldn’t remember them.
“Brian are you nearly ready?” Justin’s voice interrupted my musings “Michael said 8pm for dinner”

I looked at Ben then back to the needle. His words were lost as I thought of what I was doing. Would it be enough to reach him, to show how he was destroying himself, destroying us and everything we had begun to make together.

“What the hell is that?” Brian asked, as he wrapped his arm around Justin’s shoulders, “Thinking about Satanism as an alternative religion?”
Justin answered, chuckling, “It’s Beezlebub. He got me fantasizing about you.”
Brian looked incredulously at the drawing of the demon, complete with outstretched wings and red eyes, “At least he has good muscle tone.”
Justin laughed, “He’s the demon that represents gluttony. I’m supposed to be writing a paper, but all I could think about was last night…”
