Notes: I know I'm being glib about Thanksgiving, but it's a very Australian trait, so plze forgive!

“Happy Thanksgiving!”
“Hey, Sunshine. You too. Or was that yesterday for you?”
“It would have been, but Australians know nothing about Thanksgiving, and care even less. Besides, it’s too damn hot here for turkey.”
“Poor Justin. Suffering for your art.”
I snort. “Shut up. I know I shouldn’t complain, and I’ve sold three pieces already, so that’s good. I just wish I was there.”
“No worries, mate!” Brian says in a god-awful Australian accent. “I’ll stuff your turkey when you get back.”
I laugh. “Maybe I’ll stuff yours too.”
He lowers his voice. “Well, there’s something to be thankful for.” |

The first time Brian visited Justin in New York was exactly six days after he’d left.
Justin found him waiting outside the apartment and grinned as he was engulfed in a billowing coat and the familiar smell of Brian’s cologne.
Brian swept him off to the Four Seasons amid grand proclamations of Madison and Fifth Avenue, Armani, Prada and Gucci shopping adventures ahead.
When he checked out two days later it was the first time they’d left the room.
The second time Brian visited Justin in New York was 36 days later. They didn’t leave the room that time either. |

All around you people are laughing, cheering, slapping you on the back.
It’s finally over. And all you want to do is celebrate with Justin.

“Concerned Citizens for the Truth. Who the fuck are they?” Justin asked, but he knew it was Brian’s doing.
They went back out to the bar and Justin offered to buy Emmett a Cosmo. He looked really down, but when Justin turned back a few minutes later he was dancing up a storm.
Justin smiled at Brian, who looked like he was trying to duck Em’s flying limbs, and he smirked and came over.
“Emmett looks happier,” Justin said. Brian shrugged, but Justin knew it was his doing.
Brian kissed him then, and could feel Justin’s smile against his lips. |
