Hunter held JR’s hand as she skipped along the pavement, letting out delighted screams as kids ran through the windy night in spooky costumes.
He’d been pissed when Michael asked him to take her trick and treating but he was secretly enjoying it.
Midnight would come soon enough for him to party.
He felt her tug on his hand.
“Look pretty leaves. Can we take them home and show Daddy?”
“Why do you want those stupid things?”
Her bottom lip dropped, tears filling her eyes.
“Sure, why not”
He still had a lot to learn about being a big brother. |

“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that.”
“Either I skip the costume thing, and everyone thinks I’m trying to impress you, or I wear one and everyone thinks I’m trying to piss you off.”
“Here’s a thought. Do what you want.”
