About procrastination
This comm is for fanfiction and original writers. I don't have any rules as of yet.

Anyone may post and comment.

Let us know what it is you do to avoid writing. Writing Block galore :)

procrastination is so laid-back, its not even funny. My other two comms are down to business, though.

You may be disqualified from this comm if you've never procrastinated.

Procrastination updates

What I should be doing:

- Writing another chapter of a fic that I lost all interest in.
- Catching up with my statistics homework.
- Tuning and practising bass.
- Sleeping?

What I'm actually doing:

- Laughing my ass off
- Singing "RELAX! Take it eeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaasyyy!"
- Not sleeping.

Current Music: guess what? ;)

I haven't lost interest in my fic, luckily, but I'm trying to Produce Content on IJ, and sadly the fic I'm working on is a novel-length (Or it was. It's going to be a duology but it wants to be a trilogy.) and I'm not sure I'm up to spamming IJ with a millionty chapters of my obscure canon characters doing historical things.

So I'm... procrastinating writing both sorts of fic by doing homework. It sounds so productive, except I'm on Spring Break.

Producing Content involves making comments :)

04:34 am 3/21/08 <--- See, you've started already.

Procrastinating on fun while doing actual work is mind boggling. What about going out and drinking and such?

I made myself get all of my chemistry problems out of the way, so now it's just reading about feminism or pollution or IR spectroscopy. All three make me want to write, but not enough to actually write, so it's a pleasant sort of "hm, someday I think I'll write something. But not now."

I don't drink, but even if I did, I'm at home with my parents and have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning that nobody bothered to tell me about until today.

That's the advantage of scheduling my own appointments: I just don't schedule them and don't have to go :) Exept for pro teeth cleaning, can't do without those.

I expect that your grades are really good then.

I'm traveling this summer, so I wanted to make sure I was up to date on vaccinations. (Although I'm only going to the UK. I'm not exactly in danger of catching malaria or bubonic plague.)

Is Produce Content on IJ the counterpart to the Content Strike on LJ?
If so, I was just unknowingly taking part on both. I've just found out about the Content Strike, silly uninformed me...

And I think you've just invented the productive procrastination, dear.
There's no denying it.

Sort of. Produce Content on IJ and JF, but much of JF's content is a sort of commentary on LJ, and its servers are always so... robust.

It's not my fault! It's dialup! I can't check my flist(s) to the extent I do at school, or fill up my iconspace. And I'm really behind on my webcomics.

D: dial-up?? *sends cookies and hugs*

*joines in cookies giving, cuddles my broadband*

For about an hour today I had access to my mother's boss' computer with high-speed, and it was so tempting! But then I realized his secretary could control his computer from afar when it started checking her email by itself, and I was glad I hadn't used it.

D:! That's scary.
I also get tempted at my dad's work, but then I remember everyone there is a level-twelve computer geek and that always scares me away. You never know what the hobo-looking geniuses might be trying out to entertain themselves...

Well, these are just lawyers, and he's completely computer-illiterate, so we figure for him it's just a paperweight (but a paperweight with Firefox!), but D: I would not want the secretary catching me. Or my mom.

If it's your mom, at least it stays in the family.
Now, a secretary is a whole different story. I don't know what you do on the internet, but I know I wouldn't be able to go to any office party if someone from my dad's work caught me reading slash. It'd be too awkward.

(then again, they're all weirdos like me. there's always the possibility they are into Strat Trek fandom or something)

You are doing brilliant, being uninformed and all :)

Yes, Produce Content is a result of Content Strike. Check out [info]picket_line. I don't see this as a political thing per se. For me it's mostly about breaking dependency on one service (like LJ) and becoming more flexible. Because I don't have to support those who don't respect me, and will support those who treat me well.

(I have to giggle about productive procrastination comment :)

Yeah, it doesn't seemed a political action to me either. More like a backfire from the users for being treated like complete idiots. I mean, come on. I felt insulted at the "Three options were too many and confusing for the users" thing, and it's really hard to insult me.

It's funny I can go a month or so without even loggin in my LJ account now, when I used to be so addicted to it...

That pissed me off too. And the latest from [info]dolboeb who literally called LJ users stupid and some other names. Just...

Oh well. I think I am going to start a week long Harry/Draco friending in [info]friend_me. (After making sure that they haven't done one of them yet, hehe.)

LJ is barking and the fandom keeps walking.

Agh, LJ... I don't know why I keep coming back to it.

Oh, wait. The beloved bandom community is there. Dammit.
