HOLY COW, y'all! I'm still collecting and organizing, but we have easily broken the 1,000 prompt mark. WONDERFUL! :-)

Hello, I am Jennifer, your Virgo/OCD/insane person who is in charge of collecting and sorting prompts for this round. In order to help me not screw this up too badly, please look at the following tips:
1) Please type out the full name of the fandom. There's a very good chance I don't know it. :-)
2) If you're prompting for a crossover, please type it like this - Crossover: fandom/fandom - so they don't get mixed in with other things.
3) We do accept RPF, please be sure to type the person's full name/stage name/whatever. Again, there's a good chance I'll have no idea who you're talking about and won't know if it's wrong.

For your information, I come from a long line of English teachers, newspaper people, and pastors. Therefore, I am quite the stickler for sorting things the correct way. So fandoms that start with "The" (IE The Chronicles of Narnia) will be filed under the word that comes AFTER the The (Chronicles of Narnia, The).

I'll close off prompts when I wake up on Monday the 4th. On Tuesday the 5th, I'll post the prompts and y'all get started with the good stuff!

Hi there! It's been a while since you all have heard from me and there are several, not very interesting reasons why. So moooooving right along....

My focus and that of several of my fellow mods, is moving from IJ to Dreamwidth. In that light, darkrose, helens78 and I have started up the DW Porn Battle community. For those who are going to be active on DW, we hope you'll be checking us out here.

Is this the end of the IJ Porn Battle? To be honest, I hope to hell it isn't. I know a lot of people who have every intention of remaining active on IJ and I'd hate to see the community fail just because some of us are splitting our time a little differently. And, selfishly, I will still be reading my flists here on IJ and I hope to take place in future IJ Battles.

In light of that, I'm looking for someone, or a team of someones, who is/are willing to take over the community. It's a concentrated burst of work while each battle is running, but it's totally worth it.

Please comment here if you're interested. If you have questions as to what is involved in running a Battle, feel free to ask.

Hi hi! There's been some confusion about where prompts are located in cases where the full title of a fandom does not get sorted into the same letter category as the short-form name of a fandom.

All fandoms whose full titles start with "The" are alphabetized under T.

Narnia = The Chronicles of Narnia
Riddick = The Chronicles of Riddick
Dresden Files = The Dresden Files
Hitchhiker's Guide = The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Check the S-Z post if you can't find prompts and your fandom's full title starts with "The"!

And please bear in mind that we ask for full titles of a fandom to aid in consistency -- some people are going to call the fandom one thing, some will be calling it another. Generally, if you spell out the whole entire thing, the only inconsistencies you get are in punctuation (Stargate: SG-1 vs. Stargate SG-1 vs. Stargate: SG1 vs. Stargate SG1), which will more or less sort into the proper order anyway. But we don't want people to have to search the A-J post AND the I-R post AND the S-Z post for "Chronicles", "Narnia", and "The"!

So, where do we go from here?

Porn Battle Round Two Electric Bugaloo will begin on Feb. 18. The dates are as follows: Feb 18-20 for the prompts and Feb. 21-25 for the writing.

We pondered doing a battle every month but worried that people might burn out. Since we did want to keep some kind of momentum, we settled on running one every six weeks.

The other thing we kicked around was what to do with the unfulfilled prompts. In the end, we decided that it's far easier for us to not carry unused prompts over. However, because we know that people might have wanted to write to a specific prompt but didn't have the time, or really hoped that someone would pick up on a prompt they left, we have no problem with people resubmitting prompts. You don't even have to be the person who left the prompt in the first place; it'll be easy enough for us to weed out duplicates.

Also, if a prompt really grabbed your attention and you ended up writing something longer than 4300 characters, it's perfect okay for you to post the fic elsewhere. Again, I'd appreciate if you linked back to the comm or at least explained where your prompt came from.

Finally, here's where I ask for feedback and suggestions for next time. Obviously there were a few bugs in the system and I apologize again for the prompts that didn't make it on the list immediately. Other than that though, was there anything you think could have been done differently?
