What Is This Feeling?
Who: Lucy and James
What: Mr. Nash said he would be the flowers himself.
Where: Lucy's place of employment!
When: Friday Afternoon
Notes: Poor kids don't understand these ~feelings~
The nightmares Alex had told James about worried him. To be fare, it was often that he worried about his youngest sister, he had done so all of his life and it seemed like a hard habit to break. But the fear and caution in her eyes as she told him all of the horrible things that had been going on clenched at his heart and made him feel almost... helpless. James didn't appreciate feeling helpless.
So after getting settled he realized that he felt impatient. Impatience due to wanting to do something for his sister and for once not having a clue what he could do. He had passed by a little flower shop during one of his random meanderings of the area and thought maybe some flowers for his youngest sister would perk her up. Just a little thing to make her smile and, even if it was temporary, forget about the dreams that seemed to be haunting her.
Emerging from his car, James straightened the collar of his shirt and ran a hand through his short curls. With a straight back and his head held high he strolled down the sidewalk before slipping into the flower shop. It appeared empty, no one at the counter, just himself and the flowers. Looking around he realized he didn't know what to do. Any time he tried to put a show for a girl he bought whatever flowers weren't dead at the local grocery store. He never tried very hard with girls, what was the point? He had just been using them to enforce his non existent heterosexuality and grocery store flowers, wedged into the back of a cramped fridge, seemed to do the job. But his sister deserved better than that and he realized, as he looked at little white poof ball flowers and others that he recognized as roses, he hadn't a clue of how to get a bouquet.
Coming to the counter he hit his hand on the waiting bell and let out a sigh. He didn't like to admit a lack of knowledge over something, or be kept waiting, so he chose to call out with an ounce of annoyance clear in his voice. "Does anyone work here? Hello?"
