I do wish we had horses here. This island is bigger than it looks and having to walk all around it is tiresome. If I could ride, it would be so much more efficient.

Anyhow, several days ago, I went around to gather some supplies that I thought might liven up the bland tea that we have. I've dried it all in the sun and sewed it into little tea bags. The results were not bad, if I do say so myself. I've made mint, ginger, lemon and lavender, so if you'd like to try some, let me know and I will give you a few bags.

That does not seem like an efficient system. No wonder you say it was horrible.

I'll be honest and say that I do not know much about baking. I never did it at home.

Yeah, I don't think efficiency was the point. It was more about keeping us (the districts) in our place.

I'm no expert either. I can grill a fish and cook a few other basic things, but I never did much baking.

Mm, sounds like what my country has been trying to do to the rest of the world, really. It ended up bringing us into a war.

We had cooks. I'm sure that makes me sound terribly privliged.

We had a war, about seventy years ago. The districts rebelled, but we lost and we've been paying for it ever since.

Yeah, it kind of does. But you're here now roughing it with the rest of us, so I won't hold it against you.

Our war was mostly with other nations who are trying to take colonies in the lands that we are also trying to occupy. The entire thing is a bloody business.

Don't particularly have a choice about that, do I?

Like if our Capitol were competing with other Capitols and the districts were caught in the middle?

Well, there's always a choice. Some people have gone home, although I hope you won't choose that option.

Sounds like it, yes.

Despite the living conditions, no, I do not want to leave. There are some benefits to this place that outweigh the negative.

I agree, there are a lot of positives here. Once I settled in, I've never been happier in my life.
