Right, so, good. Glad to see that everyone's having such a good time this week. Yay sex, amirite?

But I was kind of hoping also we could have a serious conversation as a community. Because we are a community, right? We're not just a bunch of people gathering here to go our own ways, we're in this together and we need to work together to get things done. At least, that was what I thought when I agreed to come here.

So. Ruby said something about it last week, and I'm going to bring it up again this week. We have several projects ongoing, right? What's left with the medical center? If I'm right we have our first babies arriving in about two weeks and we need to be ready for that.

Also, someone was working on a sewer system, right? Were they sent home? Not glamorous work but I'm definitely willing to help with that.

What else? What else do we need done? What do we need to make this island the kind of place we all want to live?

I don't want to cause problems here. I also won't stand by and let him insult my friends. He's already been told he has bad ideas in the past and won't listen. Bruce tried to tell him here, still no listening. Then trying to tell me what I'll do and talking about how easy stuff he knows nothing about is? No way can he get away with that without censure. Or else, we're encouraging the behavior.

That said, maybe we should get a list together of what we'll need with babies. At a minimum, we need fabric to make diapers out of, the right kind of fabric, safety pins, and rubber pants if we can get them to cover the diapers. Else it's a huge mess. Bottles too, even if you're breastfeeding you still want to be able to give them water as they get older.

I think I can carve some knitting needles and if Ruby is going to spin wool then we can use that to knit with.

I know. You're a good friend for defending people. I just don't want to see someone else feel like they aren't welcome like what happened with Scott. Briseis was a mess when he left.

We have lots of fabric already at the community center. We even have canvas and velcro. We don't need pins if we make canvas covers for fabric diapers.

Is canvas waterproof? It's possible to sew with it if we have the right needles. It's a pain. I only did emergency stuff in the field with canvass in the War.

I believe the stuff we have is. It was used to protect things when we had a torrential downpour. We don't need to sew it. Just cut it to fit.

We'd need to hem it and all so it'd fit right and not fray or be uncomfortable for baby. I can experiment with it when I check it out.

True. Shouldn't be too difficult. And there's a sewing machine so that should help.
