Right, so, good. Glad to see that everyone's having such a good time this week. Yay sex, amirite?

But I was kind of hoping also we could have a serious conversation as a community. Because we are a community, right? We're not just a bunch of people gathering here to go our own ways, we're in this together and we need to work together to get things done. At least, that was what I thought when I agreed to come here.

So. Ruby said something about it last week, and I'm going to bring it up again this week. We have several projects ongoing, right? What's left with the medical center? If I'm right we have our first babies arriving in about two weeks and we need to be ready for that.

Also, someone was working on a sewer system, right? Were they sent home? Not glamorous work but I'm definitely willing to help with that.

What else? What else do we need done? What do we need to make this island the kind of place we all want to live?

Of course. It makes sense you would want to be prepared.
District Four is more poorer and more primitive than the places many people here come from, so I kind of know how people take care of babies in those circumstances. Unfortunately I was the youngest child in my family so I don't have a lot of direct experience with babies, but at least I've seen how people do it. Babies are a lot of work, but if families in Four can handle it, then so can Chloe and I.

I'm sorry if I snapped at you. It's not your fault, you're just trying to be helpful and prepared. It's mainly that other guy up thread.

That will be helpful. I come from a time when things were more high tech so this is new for me but I've studied medical archaeology so I enjoy learning different ways of doing things. I'm an only child but I've always heard that it doesn't matter how many babies you have, they're all different from one another.

It's okay. I went back and looked and I can see why you were upset. I haven't seen him actually offer to help with anything unless I missed it.

He works in the garden, so he contributes. But the point is other people do too.

Plus, if I'm being honest, he kind of pushed my buttons because I do worry that keeping the baby and building a house are selfish.

That's true. Others do work in the garden and other places.

Don't feel selfish, Finnick. If you and Chloe want to keep the baby then that's your choice. We were all told we had a choice, we can raise the children or give them to Arva. We're growing a society here so it stands to reason that some will choose to parent their children and some won't.

I don't know what I'll choose to do when the time comes but right now I'm not even thinking about pregnancy. It might be some time before I decide I'm ready but until then, I can help others with their children.

I'm just trying to do right by Chloe and our baby. She wants to be a mom, and I want to help her and give her a safe space to do it. But the fact is, it does mean I don't do as much for the community as a whole as I used to do.

I'm glad you're here in time to help with Malia's babies.

But that's okay. You can't give everything you have to everyone and your family has to come first. Right now you have to shift your priorities but that's fine.

Me too.
