The food storage containment is finished, thanks to a lot of help from others. If you find food you can put it in there, it's right outside of the main group of shelters that have been built. Sara is awesome and she's thinking about making a smokehouse, so I suggest if you find something, clean it and smoke it first. It'll last longer.

I've made fishing traps by the shore for those of you who aren't great hunters. It's a large group of rocks in a v formation in the water, when the tide comes in so do the fish and when it goes out they get trapped behind the rock wall so they'll be easier to catch, since they'll be in a confined space. So if you see stones lined up by the water, do me a favor and don't move them.

We should seriously consider building some loft beds. It'll be complicated and we'll have to find strong enough wood, but we shouldn't be sleeping on the ground no matter where our shelters are. Snakes, bugs, all that fun stuff, are best avoided. If I'm coming off as bossy tell me, that's not what I'm trying to do, I just want to help. If anyone needs anything I just finished with those fishing traps so I'm available!

Sara and I talked about the smokehouse idea. I'm a pretty good hunter, but I don't want to start taking down deer and other larger prey until we have a reliable way to store and prepare them. No point in letting all that good meat go to waste.

Well we have one deer so far and I've cleaned and taken care of it. I didn't do a great job, since I've only done it once or twice in the past with my brother and it was a really long time ago, but I thought that red meat would be good since we're all going to need to energy to keep building in these first couple of weeks.

I've got plenty of experience cleaning and dressing meat. We should also save the skins to make clothes and blankets and whatnot. I know how to do that too.

I could definitely use a hand. I may know how to build it, but I can't it done as fast as you apparently can. Don't kill yourself though. We don't need to have everything up and running the first couple of days.

I'm trying to find my way to the camp, but while I'm at it, I could probably carry a few things in my hoodie seeing as how I'm not going to be needing to wear it here. Are there any pretty easily discernible fruits or anything I could be gathering along the way, that you know of?

I'd say to go with things that you immediately recognize to be safe and if you're not sure then just play it safe and stay away. We don't need you touching anything that can be toxic and absorbed through the skin.

How are you doing, do you need someone to come find you?

I hear running water, now, so I'm just going to try following it. I'm guessing it'll either take me to the beach or to the camp and either way, someone can find me a lot easier that way, than if I just stand out here and wait, I think. But thank you, hon.

Loft beds sounds like a way better idea than sleeping on the ground. I'm not loving it, so far, not gonna lie. If you want help with that, I'm in, too. Might as well make myself useful where I can, right?

Smart thinking on the beds. I've done the sleeping on the ground business for long stretches before and gotten more than a few visitors in my trousers I wasn't keen on seeing. Count me in on figuring out that project.

Good to know, problem is that I'm not really that knowledgeable with different types of wood and what would be good to use. If we could find someone with a good eye for that it would be great.

Normally this is where I'd say I have plentiful knowledge in types of wood, but not the kind you're talking about.

Regardless, seems like we've got a pretty diverse population, I'm sure someone'll have at least half a clue.

You don't seem bossy at all to me, just practical. But I've spent most of the last few years on military bases, so my perspective could be quite a bit different from most.

I might be able to help a bit on the wood-seeking front. I have a...sort of scattered knowledge of a lot of things, including plant identification. It might be a bit slow going, but I could at least give a hand with the process of eliminating ones that would be unsuitable for the task.
