It had taken quite a bit of persistence on Cordelia's part, but by the time the sun set the day following her arrival at Angel Investigation's headquarters, Katara had at long last agreed to become a part of their group. She still had reservations about agreeing - namely the fact that her joining meant constant interaction with Zuko - but ultimately had to acknowledge that the Seer made some good points. Katara did want to help people, she did want to stop as many demons as she could from hurting innocents, and she did want to start making some kind of money in order to buy her own possessions. As stated, her only issue was being in such close contact with Zuko but she supposed that she could learn to deal with that. After all, just because they were technically on the same side now didn't mean Katara was going to forget about all the times they weren't. And the minute he so much as stepped one toe out of line, as part of this group she'd be right there to deal with it in whatever way necessary.
Hoping it would be a good while before she'd have to actually interact with him in more than a bare minimum capacity, Katara was sorely disappointed when Cordelia informed her later that evening that she and Angel were going out to meet with yet another new team member, leaving the Waterbender and the Firebender alone in the hotel. Then, as though knowing the girl's plans were to simply remain in her room until they got back, the Seer then asked her to download the translation software she'd gotten from Junjie onto the computer in the lobby, as well as start scanning some of their library so the Chinese version was available on the hard drive. That way, she explained quite logically (but with a knowing gleam in her eye that Katara simply didn't catch at the time) they could help research and possibly save a few more lives in the process.
Unable to argue with facts such as that, she'd agreed and had rather unwillingly left the relative safety of her room to trudge down to the main part of the hotel. Much to her relief she didn't see Zuko anywhere and quickly began working on the tasks she'd been given in the hopes of finishing them before he made his presence known. Dealing with Zuko with others around was bad enough. Dealing with him on her own could only lead to certain disaster, as nearly every other encounter they'd ever had clearly showed.
