RP: The team
Who: anyone on the team
Where: Team Center
When: May 23 , 2011
Summary: after they deal with the case, there's the emotional aftermath to deal with

With so many people on the case, Derek decided to bring everyone at the team center after they returned to go over everything they had found. Garcia had input the picture of their mystery man in the computer and she'd be working to find him.

They were done with the actual case work, but without anyone in charge of White Collar and with Callen gone, it was up to Derek to make sure that people were all right. So after he dismissed everyone, he tried to talk to them individually and hopefully they would talk to each other as well.

It had been surreal, it was one thing to see a body and see a gun shot wound, to know you'd put a bullet there even, or if it was someone you knew - they knew what they were getting into, there was an explanation to it. But this, seeing Peter and the other man who had been killed that day, here in this place that was... well she didn't know what it was, not safe that much she had known from the start but her family was here.

Sean was here and her dad - he was off again not here with them like he said he was going to be and she didn't know if he was all right and she just needed them all to be all right. She didn't worry about herself, she'd been trained and she was still training here and she could take care of herself, but how did you fight something like this?

She was pulled out of her thoughts though when Robert approached her, she straightened her back slightly and lifting her chin. "Hey." She nodded when he asked how she was. "Yeah I'm all right. Not that well, I've seen him around since I got here, he seemed nice enough though." Jenna shrugged. "Did you get a chance to talk to him this weekend?" She asked.

God bless the military and its training. She was almost standing at attention, perfect way to hide all emotions behind a familiar stance. The response was so obvious in the woman's body that almost made him laugh, although that was hardly the proper response at the moment.

"At ease, Lieutanant." The rank was a guess, but she was too young for anything else.

Robert shook his head. "Not really. He introduced himself, we exchanged a few words, but not really talked to him, no. Your brother was on his team, right?" Not that he didn't know. Formations or groups were things that you learned. He commanded about three hundred airmen, and he couldn't afford not to remember their units and jobs.

He stared at the people around him, not really looking at her. "Whenever I heard of a pilot going down, there was that sort of response that you have for a fellow airmen, it's that feeling that makes us wonder if anyone close to us is going to be next, if the ones that are out on a mission are in any danger." He finally turned to her. "If something were wrong, we'd know."

Jenna narrowed her eyes at Robert's comment, though she might have relaxed just a fraction, not enough to give away anything of herself - or what thoughts were running through her mind right then, but she wasn't so stiff.

She nodded, she needed to talk to Sean - not just because Peter was in charge of Sean's team, but because someone had died and that was her brother. "Yeah, Sean's on his team." She wished she'd talked to Peter more, or talked to Sean more about the man - so she knew something of what her brother must be feeling now.

Looking at Robert from the corner of her eye Jenna, bit the inside of her lip, unwilling to give away that much just yet. She knew that feeling he talked about though. Hearing when another platoon had been attacked, when guys were out pulling patrol and they got into a firefight - you always wondered who was next, if it was someone you knew.

"You can't know that." She said slowly, she didn't like the way his guess hit so close to home. "They don't know there is anything wrong, doesn't change the fact that there is." If Robert had gotten the same warnings she had not to mention anything to her dad or the rest of the people who lived in their house then he knew that. Platitudes didn't help anyone.

"It's got to be rough for him," he said, still using the casual tone. "It always is when it's a member of your unit, whether you were close or not."

He tilted his head. "G said MarSOC. Where were you stationed?" That would tell him just how fine she wasn't. No one escaped special ops without nightmares, whether they admitted it or not.

"I can, Lieutenant. I'm not telling you that there will never be anything wrong, but I'm telling you that right at the moment, there's nothing wrong or we'd know," he said. "You can't worry for what might happen. Focus on the here and now, focus on what you can see, because the alternative is giving into that feeling and that doesn't help you or anyone else." He cracked a smile. "That, and SEALs are damn tough. I've seen them in action."

It was rough for all of them. Robert's tone rubbed her the wrong way, maybe he was trying to help her - trying to be, she didn't know what he was trying to be but she didn't like it.

She nodded when he mentioned MarSOC, seemed they were still keeping people well informed even if they'd only been there a few days. She shouldn't be surprised really. "Afghanistan," She said and paused for a moment before adding, "Sangin."

He was right, and she hated that just a little bit. There was a part of her that wanted to worry - the part that had always worried when her dad was gone ever since she'd been old enough to realize that just because he was her dad didn't make him indestructible, but she'd learned to put a lid on that. To focus on her job, to focus on keeping herself safe before she worried about anyone else.

"Yeah, they are." She agreed with a slight lift at the corner of her mouth. She could focus on what was here, on Sean and keeping herself in one piece. "You work much with SEALs?"

"Man, that is tough," he said, but there was no sympathy or pity in his voice. It was a hard assignment, but they all got them and if she worked with MarSOC, they wouldn't get any easier. "Good for you. You must be a good Marine to be picked."

Robert smiled a little. He needed her focused on the here and now, because no one could afford to focus on something else, not when lives were at stake. "Yes, I do. Lieutenant Colonel, in charge of the 555 Fighter Squadron. We have one of the best anti-terrorist programs in Aviano, and that means we work with the CIA and the SEAL to get where the Air Force can't get. Since I'm in charge, that also means that I get to coordinate with them on missions." He looked at her. "Have you worked with them? Because if you have, then you know how tough the air. They make all the other special ops look like child play, even MarSOC, no matter what the Corps says about his Marines," he said, chuckling.

"Yeah, it was." It had been tough and Jenna wasn't going to say anything different to anyone who asked. She didn't need to pretend like it had been a walk in the park and anyone who seemed to understand the way Robert did would know that. "I am." She agreed, without pride or boasting - it was just a fact. Something she'd worked hard to insure, but just a fact at the end of the day, just like every other man and woman she'd worked with.

Jenna didn't know what she was feeling anymore, trying not to worry about her dad, focusing instead on Sean, on being here and keeping them safe like she'd promised her dad she would.

She shook her head. "Not really." She heard about them, the things they did but they didn't work with them much. "Sometimes we do reconnaissance for their missions." She shrugged, but that wasn't working with them. "Yeah I know, my dad's a SEAL, remember?" She said with a small smile. She'd defend the Marines with her last breath, but she knew the SEALs were tough.

There was no reason to comment on the mission or her abilities. It was hard enough for men to get picked for MarSOC. It was almost impossible for a woman. However, there was something more important in everything she's said.

He leaned a little closer. "Exactly! Then you know just how tough he is. He'll be fine," he said, winking at her. "And now, I'll leave you alone. I think your fearless leader wants a word with you. See you at home, Lieutenant."
