Re: Robert and Jenna
God bless the military and its training. She was almost standing at attention, perfect way to hide all emotions behind a familiar stance. The response was so obvious in the woman's body that almost made him laugh, although that was hardly the proper response at the moment.
"At ease, Lieutanant." The rank was a guess, but she was too young for anything else.
Robert shook his head. "Not really. He introduced himself, we exchanged a few words, but not really talked to him, no. Your brother was on his team, right?" Not that he didn't know. Formations or groups were things that you learned. He commanded about three hundred airmen, and he couldn't afford not to remember their units and jobs.
He stared at the people around him, not really looking at her. "Whenever I heard of a pilot going down, there was that sort of response that you have for a fellow airmen, it's that feeling that makes us wonder if anyone close to us is going to be next, if the ones that are out on a mission are in any danger." He finally turned to her. "If something were wrong, we'd know."
