"It's got to be rough for him," he said, still using the casual tone. "It always is when it's a member of your unit, whether you were close or not."
He tilted his head. "G said MarSOC. Where were you stationed?" That would tell him just how fine she wasn't. No one escaped special ops without nightmares, whether they admitted it or not.
"I can, Lieutenant. I'm not telling you that there will never be anything wrong, but I'm telling you that right at the moment, there's nothing wrong or we'd know," he said. "You can't worry for what might happen. Focus on the here and now, focus on what you can see, because the alternative is giving into that feeling and that doesn't help you or anyone else." He cracked a smile. "That, and SEALs are damn tough. I've seen them in action."
