Characters: Tony, Steve, other Avengers? Spider-man?
Setting: Let's start at the Tower and see what happens. Morning.
Content: Stuff.
Summary: It's been a while, but Tony finally makes a push to round out the team.
Still bleary, the neon numbers of the microwave clock bleed together until Tony blinks and steals closer to squint and get them under control. It's dark, the heavy clouds outside obscuring the stars and the moon was too low to cast any light. The only brightness in the kitchen was that clock, 5:02, and Tony's RT winking through the weave of his t-shirt. His flight, he thought, was in about an hour and a half, so he would arrive in LA about 7AM local time for the surgery scheduled to start at 9:30, God willing, after he had prepared the team with all of the updated specs. He was ahead of schedule. That was good. After he turned his back on the microwave, he had a thought and instinctively checked his wrist, bare, before closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. Behind him, the kitchen lit up in an eerie, high contrast blue and a woman's disembodied head formed soundless words with her lips over and reflected in the kitchen island. Tony steeled himself to glance back at it, assaulted by all that light but watching the little window near the mute woman's head until it told him 'sunrise: 7:08, sunset...'. Discarding the hologram with a mental command was a relief, and made the kitchen seem even darker than it had been before. Hoping his trusted courier at SI LA was up and ready, Tony composed a careful e-mail, attaching the last of the updates that had kept him awake last night to be taken to the surgeons to make it all go that much more smooth and easy. Now what was he supposed to do?
Adjusting his focus, his darkened surroundings starting to take on individual shapes again, Tony considered what was left to be done here before he could go. Not a lot; that was a weight off. Really, that was a good team. Bouncing the newspaper he had brought up from his office against his hand, he glanced around like he could see through the walls and determine where each of the Avengers were before trotting just a little cautiously through the black halls. Probably sleeping or out lurking ominously on rooftops. He knew at least one of them would be awake at this inhuman hour, and appreciate the archaic paper media. Belatedly, Tony remembered part of his duties on this side of the country included running a company, but he didn't think too hard about it. There hadn't been a lot of need or him around there lately. It was nice, in a way, to have the extra time for the workshop or the Avengers. Pepper could worry about the implications on the business side. Tony had greater priorities. He paused, listening, at Steve's door for a fraction of a second before letting himself in, finding it warmer inside already than it was in the halls at this hour.
