Good question. Tony was supposed to be an expert in the field, after all, and he would have been more than prepared (okay, not prepared, but capable of looking spectacular) to present an idea to a long table of very serious board members. Individually, though, it was more of a challenge. Tony drew a breath to answer with the first thing that came to mind before reevaluating and taking Jessica's shoulders in his hands again. Coaxing her back to seat her comfortably at the breakfast table again made the structure a little more familiar.
Not that he was going to treat her to a long speech, for a few reasons: less words meant he was less likely to offend her, and, despite his checklist of entirely valid positives that Spider-man would bring to the Avengers, he only needed one really good one. Standing back with his arms spread like he was going to say something momentous, Tony asked, "Who's your favourite hero?" Maybe that was a question that was easier for the general public to answer than a fellow metahuman, but in New York you were guaranteed to get one of three answers and one of those was disqualified for this quiz. With a finger pointed to make Jess consider her options carefully, Tony qualified, "'Cap's a cop-out."
