We’ve got the right to live, fight to use it.
Characters: Stature and Spider-Man!
Setting: The streets of New York then a diner or something
Content: Nothing questionable
Summary: Cassie and Peter reunite and kick some ass and then go get something to eat because that's what teenagers do after they fight bad guys.
Things were pretty weird around the tower with half the team was gone, but Cassie couldn't deny that she liked the change. For one (and maybe most relieving) it was nice to have Wanda gone because it meant she didn't have to worry about the self-imposed awkward silences that still happened whenever she encountered the woman. For another, it just seemed a lot more peaceful and Cassie relished the thought of spending her evenings watching the big t.v. in the common room without worrying about an argument with Pietro or Clint over what to watch (why they couldn't appreciate the entertainment value of Cupcake Wars on the Food Network was beyond her). Best of all, there were fewer people to catch her and report back to Cap or Tony if she snuck out.
Of course, she was eighteen now so Steve and Tony's opinions shouldn't have mattered much at all, but since her birthday she'd at least sort of tried to stick to their regulation of her heroing. Being able to play by their rules was, she figured, one way to prove to them that she could be as capable a hero as anyone else despite being a teenager and also despite being Cassie Lang (a fact which she knew played a pretty big role in their opinion of her abilities). Still, the temptation to fight crime got the best of her now and then and tonight, with no one else in the Tower, she took the opportunity for a late night foray into the city as Stature.
She was in luck, she only had to go a few blocks before she found the kind of mayhem she was looking for. Super powered villains were always better than your average purse-snatcher or burglar. This guy probably wasn't so much a super powered villain as a villain in a fancy costume, but at least he was better than Stilt-Man. Well, anyone was better than Stilt-Man. Anyone, in this case, was a man dressed as a Scorpion chasing someone into an alley way. When Cassie rounded the corner she noticed first that the dude was not only really fast, but he was scaling a brick wall (so, okay, maybe super powers after all). The second thing she noticed was that the unfortunate victim he was chasing wasn't a victim at all. It was Spider-Man.
"Whoa!" Cassie exclaimed in surprise, which was probably a bad move because it drew the Scorpion guy's attention and he turned and bounded back down the wall straight at her. It was all she could do to jump out of the way in time to dodge the strike of his seven foot mechanized tail. So she hadn't seen Peter in a year since he'd left for Boston and it was probably totally great that he was back, but they'd have to catch up later. Right now, she was going to have to, you know, not die.
