Sun is shining, the weather is sweet

Who: Lily, Cary and open
Where: 11th floor - Helios Deck (by the railings)
When: At about noon

Lily had never been to Miami. Really, she had never been anywhere the sun shined so brightly and lasted so long. It had been quite the sight to see, all things she had never really seen before other than on television or on the Internet. Sure, the days weren't all rainy back in Norwich, but the sun never stood a chance to shine so brightly there.

You could say Lily had been awestruck by Miami, the ocean and the sun; it was everything that Norwich or New York City weren't. So, after settling into her room, which she noticed was also somewhat of an extension of that sunshine she had taken to so much, Lily went out on deck. She wanted to breathe in the air and feel the rays of sunlight on her pale skin; right now it really didn't matter to her if she got sunburned. Even if it certainly would later, because a burnt skin didn't go well with her own general look. But the sun felt to Lily like some sort of sign, of new beginnings and brighter days. That was more important than any kind of look.

playtime

Who: Keane, Res, and open!
When: Late morning
Where: the Olympia deck, then the sports deck on Helios

The past few days of rehearsals and orientation had been a little bizarre for a group of unsigned musicians who had never actually toured before. This was Tumbler Renegade's first real gig, and as such, its members had had a lot to get used to. The day of the cruise launch felt like it had been their first day off – even if it was the day after Christmas. And as the band had no performances for the day, Res had immediately dragged Keane off to have a little fun. Staff or not, this was still their vacation. They had spent way too long looking at all sorts of shiny shit on the ship they couldn't play with, but now – finally! - they could. It was time to play. This had resulted in acting completely juvenile in the video arcade for a good hour, and then heading upstairs for a game of mini-golf.

Keane was -- per usual -- happy to be dragged wherever Res chose to drag him. Truth was, he felt a little keyed up himself, and was happy to finally indulge. He and Res were at their best when they got to act like the mental twelve-year-olds they truly were. He grinned and looked over his sunglasses at Res as he waited for her to take her final turn. "Tell me, is taking five minutes to line up each shot part of your strategy? How about the part where you shake your ass like a cat about to pounce?" Ah yes, Keane was terribly amused.

Res pointed her club at him briefly before going right back to doing her thing. "Not now, Chief, I'm in the fuckin' zone," she replied. She fought back a little snorty laugh before finally taking her swing, actually managing to finally sink the damn ball. "Oh yeah! I have conquered the world with my little blue ball!" she shouted, whilst commencing in her victory dance. Okay, she was retarded, but dammit - it was fun! She liked the days and moments where she could just let go and be a goof.

Grinning at her display, Keane shook his head at the girl and slung his arm around her neck. As was customary, he chose not to say what he was really thinking -- which was, of course, that if anyone was conquering anything with blue balls, it would always be him. He'd just about mastered the sad art by now. "You know, batting a thousand isn't actually a good thing in golf."

"This doesn't take away from my victory," Res responded, leading him back around to turn in their balls and clubs. "Where to now?" She did occasionally let the boy have a say! It was possible she'd just been a little overexcited this morning. It was a nice break from the regular. But she'd just about got all her initial OMG SHINY out of her system. They had explored and played games, and of course, not spared a single second towards the thought of unpacking. Fuck that noise.

"Don't people usually mingle on cruises?" Keane asked, tone obvious that he was not terribly attached to the idea himself. Indeed, he had no problems in the world with his current company. Regardless of what he was saying, he was still heading them off towards the stairs. "Or, relax, and generally not try to conquer the world?" This question was mostly hypothetical. Had he meant it, he was reasonably sure that Res might have smacked him for suggesting such a silly idea.

"That just wouldn't be us," Res dismissed, shaking her head. "I like our way of doing things much better. Besides, I'm too white trash to know what you're supposed to do on a cruise. My guess would be force large groups of people to watch Titanic, and see how many piss themselves and cry." Blink. "Hey, that could be fun."

I'M ON A BOAT!!!

Who: Abbie and open!
When: Early afternoon
Where: sun deck

Abbie was a little wired. At least some of this was coming from her little stop at Cyamites (HOLY CRAP COFFEE AND CHOCOLATE YAY), but a good deal of it was just Abbie, well, being Abbie. She'd spent the morning with her family, and her dad had showed them around. After having lunch together, Abbie and her sister finally managed to talk the parental units in letting them explore on their own. Naturally, they went their separate ways. Abbie was pretty sure she'd seen Allie go off in the direction of the shops. Abbie had returned to her room to get Jill Valentine, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, put her on her leash, and then it was out again. Cyamites had been a huge distraction, as had been the video arcade. But now she was wandering the upper decks, sipping her second oversized drink of chocolately and caramely (and beyond caffeinated) goodness, all the while humming "I'm On a Boat". It was only appropriate. She was wearing the t-shirt, too.

By the time she got to the Helios deck, her drink was mostly gone, and she was much less wandering - and a lot more bouncing. And a lot less humming, in favor of singing (or shouting) loudly. "I'm on a boat, I'm on a boat, Everybody look at me 'cause I'm sailing on a boat!"

All aboard the good ship

Who: London and Brooklyn with a cameo from Jude
When: Morning, boarding the ship
Where: Throughout the ship as they make their way to their room

London had been looking forward to a break and by the time the sun rose that morning, she was up, dressed to impress and ready to go. With her sister in tow, they boarded the ship, bags carried of course by a crew member or two. Each step London made through the hallway as they made their way towards one of the elevators was like she was walking down a catwalk. She could feel the eyes of the crew member on her backside and she couldn't care less. That was the way that things were supposed to be, damn it. A day in the life of a Devereaux. "Bout time we get on the ship." she muttered to her sister. "Could they have taken any longer?"

A room without books is like a body without a soul

Who: Claire and John
When: Early evening, before dinner
Where: Homer's Library

The ship was huge, much bigger then she had imagined, but the library was relatively small and Claire didn't mind so much. It was easier to watch over a smaller place, she had come from such big libraries that it was almost a relief for there to be only one level. She shelved books with ease and even took a few moments to peruse the titles and sniff the pages, which was one of her favourite things about books. The musty old smell or the newer and crisp smell of the pages. She smiled to herself, as long as she was around shelves of books she was at home but she knew the homesickness would set in sooner rather then later if she sat too long. With that in mind she whisked around the tables, picking up books and periodically shushing people.

Who: Erik and Morgan
When: early afternoon
Where: Spa

Erik was in the spa waiting for his first appointment. They were already ten minutes late and he was tired of being cooped up so he grabbed his leather bound notebook and stepped out on the balcony adjacent to the spa, so he could still be within hearing distance if his client walked in. Resting his arms on the balcony railing, Erik opened his notebook and read back on his notes for his next erotica fiction novel, making a few changes here and there. Mostly though, his heart was heavy and his thoughts were consumed with missing his daughter. The ship had barely left and he already missed her so much. Erik lowered his head and his chest heaved in a massively sad sigh. He stared out at the ocean with unseeing eyes, completely regretting his decision to leave her with his sister.
