Whizz Hard Book Launch
Who: Anyone related to Scottish Quid/Affairs/Press/Books in general (so pretty much all of you if you want) and all current and past members of both teams (NPCs welcome!)
What: The release of the Golden Neep companion book
When: March 16th 8pm
Where: Portree and Montrose clubhouses
Warnings: Language maybe? Drinking

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the BIL's most exciting rivalry: The Golden Neep! In honour of it, Whizz Hard books is proud to present a companion book to their world famous 'Quidditch Through the Ages'.

WELCOME TO THE RELEASE OF:

Neep themed decorations are throughout the cocktail party. Including intricately carved neeps, and hors d’ouevres served in small carved out neep bowls.

At one table on each of the Montrose and Portree sides of the party is a long table set up with the book of the hour! There are even special edition versions in Montrose or Portree colours available tonight. Everyone who has prepurchased their book will get it in a bag of their choice. Options: Montrose, Portree, Golden Neep (for those who like to remain neutral) designs.

If you’d like...try to get it signed by your favourite quidditcher, you’re likely to find them around here somewhere!

The Book of the Hour

Each side has a party!

Management offices on both sides are locked and heavily warded to prevent spies (we got your back, Fergus) from sneaking around. But the main areas of the trophies, historical rooms, and social rooms and lounge are all open to the guests.

Both sides have shined their trophies and old players have even lent their individual ones to buff up the display. On each side there are articles framed on the walls at various places, showcasing historic or significant victories or moment and each has even set up a historical showroom for it to show the uniforms over the years too. It’s a chance for both teams to show off their long history as BIL clubs and their numerous successes.

Just for tonight a dedicated floo connection has been set up between the two parties connecting the main rooms to allow people to move freely between each side. The floo will not allow you to go elsewhere and there isn’t even a requirement to name your destination, though if you’d like to leave please use the regular floo available around the corner.

He smiled slightly, taking a judicious sip of his own drink. "It's been... nice," he said, choosing his words with care. Despite being 'not quite on the job', as PR, it was still on him to make sure to keep an eye on things, with Merc's Threat Assessment firmly in the back of his mind. "I'm pretty excited about getting the book home and devouring it over the weekend. Getting the history of the upcoming Neep matches will probably help me a great deal, at the very least. And I'm a pretty huge Quidditch nerd, anyway, so this is a bonus- for me, at least."

"Is there anyone I should introduce you to? Most of the players from the eighties remember me as Merc's baby sister so they're happy enough to talk to me, and I'm seeing a lot of signature quills handed round, so it's not out of the question if there's anyone in particular you want to meet. It's a perk of the job, you know." She waggled her eyebrows at Alex. "Might as well take advantage of it."

"I'd love to meet anyone on the '86 team." He tried to keep from seeming too excited. "I always thought it would be fun to get an insider's perspective on that Patonga game."

Alex offered his arm. "If I promise that that's the only thing I'll take advantage of this evening, would you be opposed to wandering around this shindig with me?"

"I'd love to," Florrie says good-naturedly (because she is a Gryffinpuff), "I'm fairly certain I saw Cormac McLeod with Kenna, and I know Phineas was around here somwhere. And--" she points across the room "--there's Maverick. Come over and I'll introduce you." She slid her arm into Alex's and pulled him in Maverick's direction.

Maverick can be seen not too far away with his usual intimidating face only half following the dress code (and who's going to tell him not to?) wearing blue because he likes it and bloody hell this isn't a gala or a uniform, lighten the hell up.

When he sees Florrie he gives a casual wave and walks off from whatever conversation he'd been listening in on (again, who's going to stop him) to say hi.

Florrie drops her grip on Alex to give Maverick a hug (the prerogative of little sisters everywhere). "Hullo Mav. This is Alex Winters, and he's doing PR for us these days, and he wanted to meet some of the star players. How are you doing? I saw that great shot of you in the 88 Neep in the book; I would have been sore in your shoes if they'd missed that one out."

Florrie gets a one armed hug back (not because he doesn't care but because it turns out he's juggling two drinks in that one hand). "Been a while hasn't it? I like to think they got my good side in that picture. Stadium management still hates me for that hit but worth it. How come you come on the team after I've gone, eh? All that badgering you only kick in a decade later?"

"Merc made me an offer I really couldn't refuse. I probably should have come the first time you told me to, though. Then I could have all the fun of patching you up in 88 before they sent you to Mungo's." Florrie's grin softened a little. That had been a bad one. "I still can't believe you flew the rest of that match. I need to introduce you to Kal if she's around here. She flew the Wigtown match on Sunday in almost as bad of a state. Maybe worse."

She turned round to Alex. "They're all mad, you know. In the best way!"

While externally the picture of cool, professional interest, Alex's inner ten year old was running around and punching the air. "I think it's a universal trait. Comes with the territory."

"If he didn't already know that then I'd say he's in the wrong job," Mav laughed before downing the last of one of his two drinks and leaving it unceremoniously on the tray of a passing waiter. "Have fun in the madhouse," he offered his hand and grinned at Alex, a wide toothy one that was clearly the smile of someone who knew he looked a tad mad himself and more than a little intimidating...and quite enjoyed leaning into it. "I'd tell you to run now, but as Florrie here has shown...you never quite escape once you get a taste of it."

Fraser walked up, a fresh glass in his hand. "It's the water. My first job for Montrose, mixing the additives into the water so that you lot couldn't quite escape..."

He smiled. "So, Mav, did they do you justice in the the Neep book?"
