Whizz Hard Book Launch
Who: Anyone related to Scottish Quid/Affairs/Press/Books in general (so pretty much all of you if you want) and all current and past members of both teams (NPCs welcome!)
What: The release of the Golden Neep companion book
When: March 16th 8pm
Where: Portree and Montrose clubhouses
Warnings: Language maybe? Drinking

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the BIL's most exciting rivalry: The Golden Neep! In honour of it, Whizz Hard books is proud to present a companion book to their world famous 'Quidditch Through the Ages'.

WELCOME TO THE RELEASE OF:

Neep themed decorations are throughout the cocktail party. Including intricately carved neeps, and hors d’ouevres served in small carved out neep bowls.

At one table on each of the Montrose and Portree sides of the party is a long table set up with the book of the hour! There are even special edition versions in Montrose or Portree colours available tonight. Everyone who has prepurchased their book will get it in a bag of their choice. Options: Montrose, Portree, Golden Neep (for those who like to remain neutral) designs.

If you’d like...try to get it signed by your favourite quidditcher, you’re likely to find them around here somewhere!

The Book of the Hour

Each side has a party!

Management offices on both sides are locked and heavily warded to prevent spies (we got your back, Fergus) from sneaking around. But the main areas of the trophies, historical rooms, and social rooms and lounge are all open to the guests.

Both sides have shined their trophies and old players have even lent their individual ones to buff up the display. On each side there are articles framed on the walls at various places, showcasing historic or significant victories or moment and each has even set up a historical showroom for it to show the uniforms over the years too. It’s a chance for both teams to show off their long history as BIL clubs and their numerous successes.

Just for tonight a dedicated floo connection has been set up between the two parties connecting the main rooms to allow people to move freely between each side. The floo will not allow you to go elsewhere and there isn’t even a requirement to name your destination, though if you’d like to leave please use the regular floo available around the corner.

Unwilling to engage in a discussion of who-told-who-what, Maggie pressed on. "It hasn't affected your work yet but it does mean that the curse has more of an influence than I thought, or than you chose to share. It could get worse, Ains. You need to tell me this kind of shite so I can help you."

Fury took the sudden upper hand over frustration, and Ainsley found her need to do manifesting itself in the fist that flew into the door behind her with a sharp bang. The resulting pain in the side of her hand at least kept her from immediately starting to yell. What it didn't do, however, was give any clarity of thought to any number of the things she wanted to say. It all tangled up in her head, so that all that came out was a pained groan that had nothing to do with the stinging pain radiating through her palm.

Maybe if she looked up at the ceiling, away from Maggie, away from the awful truth of her care and judgment, then she could get something out. "You think... you think I don't know that? You think I haven't considered that? I'm finally... I'm being played, Maggie. I mean, sure, it's costing me any trust or faith that my teammates had in me or my abilities, but I'm getting a chance- which is honestly not something I thought I'd really ever get to do when I traded in.

"I don't need another lecture about irresponsibility, Maggie. It's well fucking obvious that I've got that in spades. What I need is for me to be able to go back and play the damned game like I've been training for practically half my life." She sighed and rubbed her forehead again. "I'm...sorry. This is coming out all wrong. I'm just so. Fucking. Tired of this shite."

To be honest, Ainsley's temper wasn't something Maggie was used to. She was the one with the short fuse while the keeper was the one with the level head — and the role reversal was all too clear as Maggie deposited the glass on a bookshelf and crossed her arms, waiting for her friend to calm down.

She gave Ainsley a few moments to catch her breath (and made a mental note to check her hand before she was let back into the party) before she replied, as calm as she could manage. Which, hey, all things considered? Was pretty damn cool and collected. But that's how medics do. "Jeopardizing your chance is the last thing I want. I haven't said anything about benching you, and I don't want to. I want to help you get this sordid-fucking-curse sorted so you can stop feeling tired of 'this shite,' aye? If parts are getting worse and it fucks you up on the pitch, you could get hurt in a way worse than benching."

She moved forward, just to her desk, hoping that the movement would make Ainsley look at her again. Because look, she was wearing her concerned friend face. "All I want's for you to go to Mungo's as soon as you can. I'll go with. I'm free before the late practice tomorrow, or Sunday morning." Mostly because part of her didn't trust Ainsley to do it as soon as humanly possible. "We'll talk to the healers, and to the 'breakers, and see what the next steps are to get that infernal son of a bitch book out of your system so you're back to braw and stop macking on the wrong lads. And so you quit beating up my door."

Her lips quirked up at the corners as she finally chanced a glance in Maggie's direction. The tiny smile faded after a moment, however. More apologies and even gratitude were poised on Ainsley's tongue, but what came out instead was: "It might be a blood bond."

"For all the good it would do," she hadn't moved away from the door. The hard wood might as well have been a decaying anchor for all the good it was doing her. "I met with Bill- Weasley, he was the curse breaker- Tuesday evening. And he did, y'know, break the curse. It's just down to the effects now." Ainsley gave a small, wry laugh. "Treating the symptoms at this point, while the underlying disease had lost its teeth."

For fuck's sake, Ainsley had been spending too much time with her arse of a beau. Maggie's authoritarian streak was done with hiding beneath the supporting friend.

She shot Ainsley A Look, challenging her to say it again. Her lips were thin and her eyes narrowing, and it was obvious that she was prepared to fight. "You can make those calls when you're a healer. Until then, if I say you're to go to Mungo's, you go the fuck to Mungo's. Are we clear?"

"Never said I wouldn't," there was so much defeat in the statement, a quiet, hollow resignation. "I'll be here first thing."

Ainsley drew herself up, and finally pushed away from the door. "It's supposed to be a party, innit? Alec's party. Let me get out of your hair so you can enjoy it. I'll see you tomorrow."

Maggie nodded and gestured toward the door, "I'll be back out in a few."

When she was alone in her office once more and had reclaimed her firewhiskey, though, she dropped a couple of folders onto her desk and set to work gathering whatever files they might need at the hospital the next morning.

Hooray, parties.
