Whizz Hard Book Launch
Who: Anyone related to Scottish Quid/Affairs/Press/Books in general (so pretty much all of you if you want) and all current and past members of both teams (NPCs welcome!)
What: The release of the Golden Neep companion book
When: March 16th 8pm
Where: Portree and Montrose clubhouses
Warnings: Language maybe? Drinking

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the BIL's most exciting rivalry: The Golden Neep! In honour of it, Whizz Hard books is proud to present a companion book to their world famous 'Quidditch Through the Ages'.

WELCOME TO THE RELEASE OF:

Neep themed decorations are throughout the cocktail party. Including intricately carved neeps, and hors d’ouevres served in small carved out neep bowls.

At one table on each of the Montrose and Portree sides of the party is a long table set up with the book of the hour! There are even special edition versions in Montrose or Portree colours available tonight. Everyone who has prepurchased their book will get it in a bag of their choice. Options: Montrose, Portree, Golden Neep (for those who like to remain neutral) designs.

If you’d like...try to get it signed by your favourite quidditcher, you’re likely to find them around here somewhere!

The Book of the Hour

Each side has a party!

Management offices on both sides are locked and heavily warded to prevent spies (we got your back, Fergus) from sneaking around. But the main areas of the trophies, historical rooms, and social rooms and lounge are all open to the guests.

Both sides have shined their trophies and old players have even lent their individual ones to buff up the display. On each side there are articles framed on the walls at various places, showcasing historic or significant victories or moment and each has even set up a historical showroom for it to show the uniforms over the years too. It’s a chance for both teams to show off their long history as BIL clubs and their numerous successes.

Just for tonight a dedicated floo connection has been set up between the two parties connecting the main rooms to allow people to move freely between each side. The floo will not allow you to go elsewhere and there isn’t even a requirement to name your destination, though if you’d like to leave please use the regular floo available around the corner.

The party officially opens on the Portree side (officially bc they have the Golden Neep and it's a good backdrop to announce the book) (unofficially because well...I mean look who owns the team and is releasing this book. Home team advantage).

Alec is...a tad nervous. First big book release and there's a lot of quid people and publishers here, not to mention he wants Da to be proud of this whole thing. Someone hands him one of the Portree themed drinks for a sip to calm his nerves but he doesn't get very far into it, just smooths his hair out and takes a deep breath before stepping up.

"First of all, thank you everyone for coming today for the release of a book we're very proud of. Quidditch clubs may not be the most conventional place to host something like this, but there was no better way to highlight and appreciate the history of these two teams and their rivalry as much as letting them show it for themselves.

When Whizz Hard was first discussing the upcoming 50th anniversary of Quidditch Through the Ages, we realized we were lucky enough to have it be very close to the big anniversary of a rivalry series near and dear to our hearts. So the first of our companion books we decided to do was the one we're releasing today: The Golden Neep - A Quidditch Rivalry Through the Ages.

This year and this Golden Neep marks the 400th anniversary of this famed Scottish rivalry and it's been a big year for both teams and Scotland. And as a Scottish owned and run company, it felt important that we highlight this part of our culture and do it justice.

Tonight is about celebrating 400 years of quality quidditch, the hard work of each of the teams, and everyone who's made this book happen. Thank you and enjoy."

[OOC: If Graham wants to do an opening speech, go for it please! Pretend Alec added a line to intro him at the end instead!]

Done with his big opening speech (which he memorized the lines many times over), Alec steps away and steals a look at Da to see how he did.

POLITE CLAPPING! She's on her Best Behaviour, but if anyone else whistles, she'll join in. Strength in numbers!

Peggy claps politely for her brother (and dad) and is first to jump in in case people don't know when they're supposed to applaud.

Thank you Alec, for creating this amazing book, and throwing this excellent party for it.

I want to tell you all, I've published many books, but this is the first one by an Urquhart. I couldn't be more proud.

Alec doesn't know this yet, but based on early copies and early reviews, we're starting to get international interest in the publishing rights, so he's probably got some travel in his future. Sorry, Alec, I didn't mean it when I said it would get easier once the book was in print.

But a book like this, like a quidditch team, is the product of a lot of people dedicating themselves to making something great. We're in the clubhouses of two of the best teams in Scotland, and where a rivalry through the ages has grown, and we can look forward to the next 400 years of the best quidditch on the planet, played to win the coveted golden neep.

So tonight, please eat, drink, and be merry. Tomorrow, read your lovely new book. And later this month, attend the Neep tournament.

And sorry as I am to say this with my dear friends in black and white here, but Bart tells me he's gotten used to the neep and plans to keep it for another cycle.

Alec is trying not to go red with a happy blush as he listens and honestly is bursting with happiness right now. Da's happy with his work and proud of it, he said it publicly and explicitly and it takes a lot to keep the smile on Alec's face a respectable width.

(He makes note to ask about what the next steps or project is and where exactly this travel might lead...But next breakfast meeting!)

Buzzed quidditchers take the mic for Neep tales

(Note: idk who did the old portree npcs before but please feel free to throw them in anywhere)

Any player who's played a Neep and wants to share some stories among your fellow quidditchers and people who will appreciate them (we all know the other teams are jealous of the Neep) - go right ahead!

They have about a half-dozen ridiculous stories from the 70s and early 80s, and Bart has a couple from his coaching years, including the year they all got on the boat after the bonfire the last time the Neep visited Montrose. And then about the fireworks in Portree two years later.
