WHO: Everyone! IC/OC
WHEN: Thursday, 21 December 1999
WHERE: The Manor House, Macmillan Park
SUMMARY: Mid-Season (Christmas) Party hosted by the Montrose Magpies at Macmillan Park, cocktail dresses and blazers suggested.
RATING: Low

The Macmillan Family welcomes you to to Macmillan Park for the Mid-Season Yule party for all of Scottish Quidditch (and then some).

The Manor House is decorated for the season, with each room on the first floor having a display of its own. The public areas of the garden are also decorated and kept at a comfortable temperature (as long as you are wearing a cloak) with plenty of warming charms. Christmas crackers are available on all of the tables for all of your paper crown and terrible joke needs.

Finger foods and drinks (alcoholic and non) are plentiful. Eggnog can be made either way and if you want a hot chocolate with a splash of whisky, nobody is going to bat an eye. Entertainment is provided by the Tomnahurich Quartet and the Calanais Singers throughout the night in the main hall. A selection of seasonal songs in the muggle and wizarding traditions were planned, but both groups will take requests. They will be performing both together and separately.

For any children who joined their parents in the festivities, they have their own party going on upstairs in the rarely-used nursery (think very large and extensive playroom with bedrooms nearby and a schooling area). There are kid friendly foods, including sandwiches, personal pizzas in seasonal shapes, a Hot Chocolate Bar, and cherry flavored fizzy drinks. There are, of course, plenty of sweets to be had as well.

Alasdair pops in for a minute or two each time he passes the library on his wanderings, checking in on Jason's progress. When it appears as though the race is coming to an end, he stays with the crowd listening as Jason crosses the line, wanting to know how he got on.

Once it started getting closer to the end, Maddock would have stayed more permanently to wait to hear the finish and Jason's place. He'd chat Alasdair the younger up!

Alasdair B is perched on the edge of one of the leather chairs, head turned towards the wireless when he realises there’s a presence near him. He looks up, sees Alasdair and nods in greeting, offering up his hand as he introduces himself, because it doesn’t see, like that’s happened yet?

In that case, Alasdair M. introduces himself to Alasdair B with a handshake. But he can call him Maddock, or some variation as most people do. Because going to meet someone in Quidditch with the same first name as you seems highly amusing to Maddock. He would have just come back into the library so he'd ask Alasdair about Jason's progress.

Alasdair introduces himself as Ada's partner, so their reserve Keeper is the reason he's in the building. Their starting Chaser, he explains, is an old friend of his from school which is why he's listening to the wireless.

"He's sitting around 5th at the moment," he explains, nodding his head towards the wireless.

Ah yes, Alasdair of Portree. And Alasdair of Montrose. Funny isn't it? And he'd remark that he's not the only one from Portree there anyway. He nods understanding that he's Jason's friend too. Maddock asks if he went to go see the opening, and mentions he'd been there to wish Jason good luck and was glad to see he looked confident. "That's great, who's ahead?"

"True, but I'm here as a plus one which makes a change," Alasdair chuckles.

"Aye, we both went. The lad's had a lot on, he deserves it, I reckon," he begins, before reeling off the list he'd last heard.

"Got you there. I was the plus one at the Portree Gala," he agreed. Not that he really felt like he was under pressure here. Just more of his team mates were there.

"We were talking about that the other day, him being busy." Maddock nodded about all the racers who were ahead of Jason, and he was sure that Jason could pass one of them.

"He's doing well for himself," Alasdair replied, meaning generally rather than in the moment. Although, that too of course. "I was impressed by the broom shop. That's going to set him up well for the future, I reckon."

"A man of many talents," Maddock agreed when Alasdair mentioned the broom shop. "That and the pink muggleborn protest, he's quite busy. Maybe he'll even go into politics."

The younger Alasdair chuckled. “Maybe. He’d be good at it. I feel like the muggleborn visibility stuff... that’s what means most to him, and the others, aye? Sometimes it’s easier to hold politicians to account from outside the institutions themselves. Heard that said before.” If their mutual friend was good at one thing in particular with regards to this new movement, it was keeping people honest in that manner.

"That's probably true," Maddock agreed about accountability from the outside. That meant Jason could just worry about his own agenda than following someone else's. "At least there all getting some more public support now."
