Okay. Hypothetically, you're walking down the street - you're listening to your IPod, you're thinking about the tuna salad you had for lunch, you're not paying attention. The most beautiful girl you've ever seen walks in front of you and you bump into each other. Apologies are made and she's gone before you can even catch her name.

You know though that this girl, this woman is someone special. But she's already out of your sight.

What do you do? (Note: your answer will have the endless thanks of one Fabian Greene. Make it good)

On another unrelated note, where's the coolest place in town to get wasted?

Morgenstern?

You won't know she's special what the hell does that even until you actually get to know her.

Try Phantasia.

That’s beside the point. It’s a soul mate kind of gig. You just know.

Deets, Warda. Give me deets. I like to know more about a place before I crash it.

That's chemistry, but J Warda already sort of told you as much. It isn't love, or even like really. But as to what you do, go back there, wait. It might be a regular path for her, and she might come back that way.

Once again, soulmate gig. Or it might not. Regardless of the point, you’re going there because you’ve got that feeling.

But a decent suggestion. The area is going to have to be a bit more interesting to carry a whole novel.

You bump into someone, apologize and then, as she vanishes, sudden inspiration that she's omg The One all caps, stars, and sparkles? Sorry, I don't buy it. You want a woman to believe some random person is her match-from-the-heavens you better show some initiative.

Standing on a street corner gaping like a fish isn't initiative. Grow a pair and give chase for crying out loud!

My vote would be less for chasing and more for growing up. Love at first sight is a myth. Lust at first sight is much more valid, but less romantic and not really worth writing about.

If they're meant to be together, then they'll definitely find each other again; probably when they least expect it. Fate works in mysterious ways right? . . . Of course that doesn't mean he should just sit back and wait. Fate might be able to push you toward the right person but eventually you're going to have to fight to keep them. That's how you know you really love them right? Because you can't imagine a life without them in it anymore.

Well. If you're talking fiction here, you could have him chase after her for a bit. But chances are that's too easy, because well, it's fiction, and what is good fiction if not a bit realistic?

Maybe there's a coffeeshop where they passed, and he can frequent it, or come back to that spot at the same time on the same day the next week. Or...perhaps he could post a "missed connections" bulletin and wax poetic about love at first sight.

Or maybe she turns out to be connected to him in some other way. Admittedly, these ideas are rather trite. It's fascinating to be involved in the artistic process of a novelist, though. What made you want to start?
