No one looking at the Prince of Mirkwood would have any idea that he'd just been fighting for his life. Of course, that was one of the benefits of using a bow, that you did tend to stay safer, and therefore get less injured. But it wasn't just the lack of injuries that seemed a bit off. He'd come very close to dying tonight, and probably would have if it wasn't for for the quick actions of his companion in the battle, the Waterbender Katara.

It wasn't that he didn't know it, either. But perhaps it was just that he'd almost died so many times that it had rather lost it's shock. Anyway, as someone who was effectively immortal, he had a hard time taking the whole concept of death seriously. He understood it logically, but that wasn't enough to really hammer it home on an intuitive, visceral level.

Actually, though he didn't show it, he was much more disturbed about the shot he'd taken at their foe. Without thinking, he had aimed his arrow right at his eye. Despite all the warnings of the planet against killing, in the moment when it mattered, he had blanked that out and just acted. Nevermind that Katara had acted just as quickly, nor that the strange being they'd been fighting had quickly recovered, the regenerated eye pushing his arrow out. He had still taken an action that could have killed someone, and if he wasn't careful, he was going to end up getting hurt. He didn't know how the Planet would react, but he was sure it wouldn't be pleasant.

None of his thoughts showed on his face or in his manner, though. To the contrary, the Elven prince might as well have been out for a pleasant stroll through the woods. Side by side with the beautiful dark-haired waterbender, he walked without a sound between the trees. However, he was far from silent, despite the noiselessness of his feet in the thick leaf mold of the forest. A happy, carefree elven song was on his lips, though his bow was still drawn and ready for action. Though the song was sung in elven, the words were clear enough, thanks to the magic of the place. He was singing of victory, of an Elven hero of the old days who had gone against a horde of Orcs, and won. It seemed appropriate, though the tune was too happy and bouncy for such a disturbing subject.

That was the first hint Aragorn and Giselle would have that someone was coming. The second was the arrow that was suddenly protruding out of the chest of one of the lizardmen guards. That left only one, as Katara and Legolas strode side by side into the area around the alter.

"My lady Giselle..." The Elf bowed elegantly to the beautiful, tiny woman as she shook free of her bonds. "As always, a pleasure. I hope that some morning soon, we may again share the great joy of singing to the sunrise." He smiled at her, showing no indication that he had been through hell to get here, and slung his bow easily over his shoulder.

There wasn't much that could escape his sharp elven eyes, and a gleam of silver near the back of the alter was as clear as a beacon on a clear night to him. Casually, he walked over to it, picked up the beautiful reforged sword of Elendil, which shone despite the dirt covering it. It didn't take much to clear it of the grime so it shone as beautifully as ever, and then he was walking back to the group.

"My lady Katara... it has been an honor. I am sure I would have joined other elves who die in the Halls of Mandos were it not for you. I am forever in your debt." He bowed to her, as well. "I am hoping, my lady waterbender, that this was not the last time we will hunt together."

Then, it was time for the most difficult conversation. He wasn't at all sure how this was going to go. Aragorn was looking around frantically for the sword that Legolas held in his hands. A smile lit up the elven face as he heard those words, the same ones he'd used on Aragorn all those weeks ago. He watched the Ranger for a second, his eyes dark with worry and doubt despite the smile on his face.

"Aragorn!" Finally, he spoke to his friend, and if he was nervous, it certainly didn't show on his face. He walked over to him, standing about five feet away. I believe I have something that belongs to you or If you ever do that again I will kill you myself or something like that was what he meant to say, what he planned to say. But instead, he simply looked right at the Ranger and spoke in Elven. "I love you." Of course, the magic of the planet meant it was translated for everyone to hear, but it just seemed somehow right to say it in the language that had been their secret one through the months they had travelled together.

The small smile was still on his lips as he held out the sword toward the Ranger with the tiniest of inclinations of his head to his friend, to the man that would never now be king in Middle Earth, but would always be the ruler of his heart. Though butterflies about the size of hill giants fluttered through his stomach, he appeared as calm and collected as always. The only sign of nerves were the tightening on his fingers on the sword hilt he carried, as he waited for the response to his dramatic confession. He'd never been much good with holding his feelings back, anyway.

Giselle watched as the second lizardman was encased in ice and the leaves dropped from the trees around them. She gasped and waited while Katara ran around and freed them from their bonds. She smiled at Legolas and nodded. "I would love that." She lifted her chin for Katara to heal the nicks on her neck. The vain part of her would have hated for anything to mar the smooth surface of her neck and she was grateful for Katara's abilities.

She rubbed her wrists, they were red and chaffed from where the bonds had been. She held those out for some healing as well and was free of pain and any signs of harm when her friend was finished. She hopped off the altar and slung her arms around Katara in a grateful hug. "Thank you so much!" She ran to Legolas as well, and slung her arms around him. "I don't know how you found us, but I am ever so grateful you did!" She released her hold on him and watched as he went to Aragorn, holding up the shiny sword that had been taken from the Ranger when they'd been captured.

A small red brow rose at the words that erupted from the Elf's mouth, and she bit down on her lips to fight the smile that was growing there. She didn't have experience with homosexuality, but she saw nothing wrong with it. Why shouldn't they? She felt happy for the two of them, and mentally checked both Legolas and Aragorn off her list of royal prospects. She hopped and slipped her arm through Katara's and bounced lightly beside her.

She was so happy to be free. "What happened to the man who captured us?" She whispered loudly, her eyes shining with happiness as she watched Legolas and Aragorn reunite.
