No one looking at the Prince of Mirkwood would have any idea that he'd just been fighting for his life. Of course, that was one of the benefits of using a bow, that you did tend to stay safer, and therefore get less injured. But it wasn't just the lack of injuries that seemed a bit off. He'd come very close to dying tonight, and probably would have if it wasn't for for the quick actions of his companion in the battle, the Waterbender Katara.

It wasn't that he didn't know it, either. But perhaps it was just that he'd almost died so many times that it had rather lost it's shock. Anyway, as someone who was effectively immortal, he had a hard time taking the whole concept of death seriously. He understood it logically, but that wasn't enough to really hammer it home on an intuitive, visceral level.

Actually, though he didn't show it, he was much more disturbed about the shot he'd taken at their foe. Without thinking, he had aimed his arrow right at his eye. Despite all the warnings of the planet against killing, in the moment when it mattered, he had blanked that out and just acted. Nevermind that Katara had acted just as quickly, nor that the strange being they'd been fighting had quickly recovered, the regenerated eye pushing his arrow out. He had still taken an action that could have killed someone, and if he wasn't careful, he was going to end up getting hurt. He didn't know how the Planet would react, but he was sure it wouldn't be pleasant.

None of his thoughts showed on his face or in his manner, though. To the contrary, the Elven prince might as well have been out for a pleasant stroll through the woods. Side by side with the beautiful dark-haired waterbender, he walked without a sound between the trees. However, he was far from silent, despite the noiselessness of his feet in the thick leaf mold of the forest. A happy, carefree elven song was on his lips, though his bow was still drawn and ready for action. Though the song was sung in elven, the words were clear enough, thanks to the magic of the place. He was singing of victory, of an Elven hero of the old days who had gone against a horde of Orcs, and won. It seemed appropriate, though the tune was too happy and bouncy for such a disturbing subject.

That was the first hint Aragorn and Giselle would have that someone was coming. The second was the arrow that was suddenly protruding out of the chest of one of the lizardmen guards. That left only one, as Katara and Legolas strode side by side into the area around the alter.

Katara had been horrified. Never in her life had she ever seen something more unnerving and terrifying. How could anyone take an arrow to their eye just to have that arrow pushed out and the optic completely undamaged? It had been a sickening sight, though she was glad the blood had been minimal.

The waterbender pushed the thought from her mind. In the moment when it mattered most, Katara and Legolas had worked together as a good team to pin that crazed man to a tree so she could freeze him there. He had been completely incapacitated as soon as his body had been encased in ice. He couldn’t move from the jaw down, and that made it so he had no leverage to use his superhuman strength to break himself free. Her water skins were empty because she’d used all the water she could to freeze that madman. Several trees in that area were also little more than tall, shriveled twigs with dry, crunchy leaves barely clinging to them. It was better to be safe than sorry.

Beside her walked the beautiful, elven man. The song he sang was beautiful, and the best part was that it hadn’t distracted him from scouting the victims or watching out for other traps that surely had to have been set up for them.

She slowed her pace, trying to quiet her feet- though that seemed impossible next to the silence with which Legolas walked. She could see the two up ahead, sitting on some sort of… flat surface that looked quite out of place. Katara couldn’t help but to gasp as the elf shot an arrow straight into one of those men who sort of reminded her of human-like mongoose dragons. How strange… Even with their strange appearance, she wasn’t distracted. It was the way the one the elf had shot crumpled to the ground as if dead. She was hesitant to move forward, fearful of the wrath of the Planet, yet nothing happened. Perhaps it was to come later? A shiver wound through her, but she was ready for action.

Three trees suddenly lost all of their watery contents as that life-giving liquid rushed at the remaining mongoose dragon man who would have soon found itself in the same position as its master, frozen to a tree. This was a lot simpler, and Katara didn’t feel more water was necessary to use. This creature was slower and seemed a lot weaker than the lunatic with those strange self-healing abilities had been.

Once that was out of the way, Katara rushed to Giselle and King Aragorn. “Are you two all right? I’m so glad you’re both alive! I’m so sorry this happened to you.” Several leaves fell from the trees as Katara replenished her useful water. Though it may not have seemed to most that water would ever cut through anything, the waterbender knew better. In four swift, fluid motions, those who were bound would find themselves suddenly free of their cuffs. A clean slash through their metal would be seen from the compression of water so it was sharper than a knife she had created.

She moved back around to face Giselle, looking her over. Katara’s skilled, healer’s eye caught the scabbed over pinpricks that marred the red-head’s graceful neck. “You don’t mind if I heal your neck do you? It will only take a second. I don’t want those to scar.” They didn’t look deep, but Giselle seemed so fragile sometimes that such a minor wound could have easily scarred her fair skin. Her long-fingered hand was suddenly encased the same water she’d used to free the duo from their bonds, and it glowed with a blue light as she placed that water-gloved hand gently upon Giselle’s throat. To the other, the water would have felt cool and soothing. When she pulled her hand away, there wasn’t a trace of the wound left, and the waterbender allowed the liquid to drip away from her hand to fall to the earth- the healing properties of that water having been used up.

“How are your wrists? Are they bruised from the shackles? I can heal that, too. King Aragorn, are you hurt at all?” Katara felt far too responsible for all of this. She had to make sure they were healed of any and all wounds. It was the very least she could do. The Water Tribe femme felt she owed them much more.

With every apology coming from the young woman, Aragorn shook his head telling her there was no need for her to be sorry.Them being here was not her fault. His wrist were raw from him constantly trying to get his restraints free. No luck obviously but he tried anyways. His sword had been taken from him and he felt incredibly lost.

He was in his head, formulating a plan to get out of here and he was reminded he had been in tight scrapes before. But most of the times before, he got out of them because he had Legolas by his side.

The Elf, Aragorn's mind went to Legolas as he wondered if the Elf realized he was gone? If he sensed the danger just as he had? He wondered if the blond Elf was safe? If he would ever get the chance to tell him he loved him?

It was just before Giselle said two names that Aragorn heard the tune. What the......?" Only Legolas would whistle a tune like that and only Legolas would be whistling during something like this. The Ranger's head snapped from side to side and he had just spotted a flash of blond when he saw the arrow. A grin, despite the circumstances touched his lips. And soon the beautiful brunette that had come in with Legolas was freeing them both from their restraints. Quickly he moved over to make sure Giselle was fine.

"I'm fine... a little worse for wear but nothing bad .." Aragorn rubbed at his raw but free wrists and after making sure Giselle would be okay,Aragorn raised his head to look for Legolas and the moment he spotted him he rushed over to him.

"You're late..."The Ranger said using words that Legolas himself had used when he returned from the "dead." But then once more he was looking around frantically. His sword.... it was gone. Fuck...... Where was his sword?
