Day 3- White Water Rafting
Who: Austin, Legolas, Ace and Brigitte
What: White Water River Rafting
When: Mid-Afternoon
Where: The Boathouse/River
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

Austin cracked one eye open. He heard the rustle of paper on the other side of his door and his eyes shifted to the door. It was a garish mustard color, and the rest of the colors in the room were just as bad. Sitting up, he crept toward the door in a pair of red briefs with the British flag plastered across his butt. He opened it a crack and peered out from behind his thick glasses. Seeing no one, he stuck his head out and looked down the hall. He saw a golem sticking envelopes on other doors as well and looked to his and saw there was one with his name on it.

Plucking it off the door, he shut it as he slipped back inside and went to his rotating bed. It was currently rotating and as he tried to sit down his butt moved but his feet didn't and that caused him to land on the floor with a thud. Getting up quickly, he looked around, even though there was no one in his room. A fact he quite regretted. Straightening his glasses he hopped on the bed and sat down to read the enclosed message.

Go to the boat house. You will be taking a rafting tour down the river. This is mandatory. If you do not go, a golem will find you and take you there. Don't leave until the class is finished, or a golem will take you back. "Hmm." Austin had yet to see one of these golems. The only person he'd seen had been Tonks. Austin grinned thinking of her.

The activity wasn't until later that afternoon, so he decided to figure out what to wear. That took a good part of the afternoon, but he finally settled on another pair of briefs similar to the ones he wore currently, but in a lycra material and bright blue. His swimming shorts. He pulled them on and then found a green and yellow button down shirt and a pair of brown cords. He brushed his hair, his teeth and cleaned his glasses.

By the time he was finished, his stomach was growling and breakfast was over and lunch hadn't quite begun. He found the restaurant and ordered tea and scones. Settling for some food in between meals. When he was satisfied he went out to wander the grounds until it was time to go to the boat house.

When he arrived at the boathouse, he found himself face to face with one of these golems. His eyebrows shot up and he got into a protective stance. "Hey, man. Something wrong with your face, I think." But he noticed that the man's hands were also afflicted with the same abnormality that made his skin look like a dark brown clay. He shifted his eyes around him and then back to the mute Golem. "Say something, man!" But when the golem still didn't speak Austin relaxed, wondering if maybe it was a statue.

And then it moved and Austin jerked back, jumping a few paces away. "Whoa!" When the golem directed him into the boathouse, Austin looked at him suspiciously. "What, go in there?" The golem nodded and Austin scowled. "You can't kill me, right?" The golem shook his head. The plaque hadn't said anything about not hurting people, though. Reluctantly, Austin proceeded inside and was relieved the Golem didn't follow.

He sat down on a bench and looked toward a rather nice looking television. Better than any he'd ever seen. It was looping a video about life jackets and safety on a raft. There was a pile of life jackets against a wall and Austin went to get one. Watching the video carefully, he put his on and adjusted the straps. Then sat back down to watch the rafting portion.

It looked dangerous, the way those people bounced about in the rubber boat and jerked over the white water. But, they looked to be having fun. And Austin was all about having fun. He rubbed his hands together and laughed. "Yeah, baby."

The Elf, having dried out in the sun, looked as he always did. He was having a great time, really. The rapids were really a lot of fun. The parts he prefered, though, were the calm bits where he could just sit back and watch the scenery go by. This place reminded him of any number of rivers he'd travelled along, but of course, it wasn't any of them. He'd never been along this river before, and the proof was that there wasn't any sort of waterway in Middle Earth that would fling you back onto the raft once you'd fallen, or jumped, off.

When the food was uncovered, the elf smiled. He was hungry. But there was no food in the cooler that he was used to. No berries, Elven cakes, or anything like that. This must be human food. Carefully, he reached into the cooler, picking something at random. After all, surely the planet wouldn't let him eat anything poisonous? Or, at least, he hoped it was the case.

Unwrapping the strange plastic covering on the food as he had seen the others do, he took a cautious bite. It was meat, some kind that he couldn't identify, and cheese, along with lettuce. Very tasty, he found, and he quickly finished the whole thing off. It lacked the subtle nuances of elven food, but was good despite that.

Normally, he wouldn't have bothered much with humans, but these ones, well, they didn't seem like that much of a waste of time, really. The one that called herself Ace was very competant, and had steered them well through the rapids. The young one was shaken, but hadn't been thrown off the craft, and the human male, well, he wasn't nearly as incompetant as Legolas would have expected.

"Indeed, Lady Brigitte. In fact, this food is quite extraordinary. What do you call these strange things, and do humans eat them all the time?"

He recognized the fruit, of course, but the sandiches weren't anything he'd experienced before. As they drifted through the calm area of water, he reached over and snagged a drink. It made a strange noise when he opened it, and he looked at it with a sort of startled, yet amused expression on his fine features.

"This strange device made a noise. What is the purpose of this?"

Of course, pop cans didn't exactly exist on Middle Earth, either, and he was completely out of his element. He stopped looking at it like it might bite him in order to answer the rest of the teenager's question.

"My lady, I have been here for just a day, and already, this place is much stranger than my home world. And you, how long has it been since you came here? And were you a willing visitor to this strange place? All of you, actually, did you choose to come here?"
