[Had enough of connecting with your inner child already? Because these days, the energy from the children around is going to be shifting some things around. While there was a playground available by the old school building, it seems to be expanding, sneaking into all sorts of locations.

It won't be difficult to notice this, as one may walk outside to find their dome is now behind a giant inflatable slide. Or see that the pavillion by the park now hosts an evergrowing maze of monkey bars, nevermind the many ballpits and bounce houses across the islands. There are water guns and other similar toys by the fountain at the bazaar, more toys, childish books and coloring kits to be found in the underground common rooms, and even sweets and candy by the cafeteria... Well, you can't entirely blame Miracle Country for this one. Afterall, not only are there temporary children running around, the magic that's making them young is clearly lingering.

Perhaps someone has returned back to normal only to find their best friend or partner is now a kid. Or maybe they were still their usual age and are now joining the ranks of the kids around. Maybe nothing has changed, but you might appreciate the help with entertaining younger people when you're not used to them being around normally. In any case, the more the kids get to be themselves, the more their positive energy will be spent, and the sooner the magic can start to wear out.]

[You say "accept" like he'd ever turn down being given a kitten. He is, by the way, gently petting said kitten while they speak, so chances are he does indeed accept it. After, say, half a minute of just that, Sebastian seems to have recovered enough to look mildly thoughtful instead of just blissfully happy, and he tilts his head as he looks at Lucifer again.]

Why, sir?

[...Yes, he did just ask that, and admittedly Sebastian isn't at his smartest around cats. But this is a different "why".]

Why, what? [You might be questioning several aspects of this exchange, really.]

Why this insistence that things should matter to me?

[He may have been a brat, but he remembers the face Lucifer made when Sebastian spoke of his own aesthetics as a vain attempt to have something matter. Not to mention the, ah, cat challenge, shall we say.]

I do not see why it bothers you so.

[This is all in a mildly confused, curious tone - not in the least annoyed or sarcastic. Like he said, he's not Lucifer's demon? Well, aside from when he conveniently was because it made for good guilt-tripping material.]

[Lbr, a big part of the reasoning there is that Sebastian is a demon and Lucifer is bffs... of sorts... with one, one he cares about very much despite their grumpiness at each other.]

[Not that he'd say as much.]

Because if you don't care about anything at all, you might as well be a rock, or a really well-dressed sea cucumber. What's the point of that?

[Sebastian tilts his head watching Lucifer. Huh. All right, so Lucifer simply cares about it for... some undetermined reason (because surely he wouldn't be this concerned about every single person there is? that wouldn't make any kind of sense). Maybe he does somehow consider Sebastian one of "his" demons of sorts, in spite of everything. That would explain why the guilting back then sort of worked.]

[--And then he laughs softly, not really having it in him to be offended at being compared to rocks or what have you. In fact, "well-dressed sea cucumber" is kind of funny.]

You are so strange, sir. [But it's all good. Today is such a beautiful day, and Sebastian brings his little kitten to rest on his shoulder, petting it all the while.]

If nothing truly matters, that only means one is free to pick and choose what things to care about, you see? Ah, but no matter... [such a beautiful day isn't suited for talking philosophy.]

[Doesn't even react to being called 'strange' by you, at this point.]

To pretend to care about. It wouldn't be real.

[Still as contently (not that this would be a heated discussion for Sebastian under normal, non-cat circumstances, but it would be a serious, focused one, because aesthetics are important):]

I do not understand that distinction. Humans cease to care about matters they once cherished deeply, do they not?

[Does that mean "it wasn't real" retrospectively? That makes no sense.]

There's a difference between changing your mind, and being fake in the first place.

[/tilts his head]

And if one does not change one's mind, despite it being, as you call it, "fake"?

Although I do not expect such an extreme outcome... I will pursue my aesthetics to the death, you realise, should it come to that.

[Sebastian gives no fucks if anyone thinks he's weird, so his response is genuinely thoughtful, not offended:]

Huh.

Yet you would not say the same about the humans willing to die for their convictions?

For example, [he agrees with a simple nod.]

Or like those protecting a loved ones at the expense of their own life, or ones who would rather die than convert to a religion not their own. Like those who would die to expose a lie, or to aid a cause they believe in. Or, ironically, those who would die for having failed to live up to their own ideals.

--To me those all seem irrational causes to care for to the point of staking one's life.

[But to Lucifer, the fact that there's ~~genuine caring~~ involved ranks it higher than what Sebastian's doing...? That's so strange.]

Those sorts of people would hardly ever end up with me, would they? [The heroic and the sacrificial... It's not usual for them to go to Hell.]

I don't know what you want me to say. That there're things worth dying for?

No, sir-- it was simply an attempt to understand your reasoning, [he says, shaking his head with a soft laugh.]

Like I said, I don't see the importance of genuinely caring when it is all the same outcome in the end, and I would argue my convictions are often more thought through than those of the average human. Ah, but it isn't important if we cannot understand each other's viewpoints... [/pets his kitten ♥]

Would you like a cake?

[Apparently Lucifer isn't banned anymore. Yay?]

Huh? No, no... what would the point of that be, after all?

[Why was he angry in the first place, anyway?]

[...] Right. None, of course. [So... cake?]

[Team Genius, right here. Also Team Excellent Communication.]

[Cake, yes: still with his kitten safely snuggled against his shoulder, Sebastian goes to get an entire cake out-- cutting a proper piece because even if Lucifer will probably end up eating the entire cake, good table manners are important.

It's probably a devil's food cake too because that joke will never not be funny. At least Lucifer knows how to reconcile with this idiot now.]
