There's a lot of memories about today, and for once Jack's mostly enjoying them. In the last few months, he's learned a lot about connecting with other people and his past and while some (okay, quite a few) of the photos he comes across trigger sad memories, there a lot of good moments in there too. People he's loved and lost and, sometimes, found again.

He can be found displaying a variety of emotions depending on the picture, or even depending on which particular memories a picture evokes each time he looks at it. There is quite a lot of smiling, though.

Laurel was warned there was a man who looked like Malcolm Merlyn here. She hadn't seen him till today and with weariness, she moved toward the him and the board to see what pictures where up there.

Malcolm killed Tommy, her sister, her city! He did save Laurel more times than she liked to admit and allowed her to bring Sara back to life. However all the good didn't erase Laurel burning hate for Malcolm Merlyn.

However she knew not to take it out on this man, it was the type of person she was and the lawyer in her, innocent till proven guilty. Plus being near him, she had a pull to him that she couldn't explain. "Hel..." she went to greet him, but than she saw the pictures meant for her and her voice got caught in her throat. The last one...Oliver standing in front of her grave? Her hand reached out and touched it, so she was truly dead, wasn't she?

He'd seen two people look at him like that upon first meetings recently and it was no big leap to assume this woman was also acquainted with someone called Malcolm Merlyn. Fortunately, though, it seemed that Ray and Felicity had been doing their job and his actual identity was already known to her, which was something of a relief.

He was starting to get an inkling of how Spike had felt when he got mistaken for John Hart.

He was about to respond to the polite greeting when he saw her go pale at something amongst the photos and he came forward automatically, reaching out as if to catch her if she were to fall. "Hey, is everything all right?"

"Eh No," she answered without thinking and than shook her head, "Yes, yes, sorry," she looked at him and at the board. "That's...." she couldn't even say it, tears started to stream down her cheeks, it was her funeral, her family saying farewell to her.

"I...I...I..." she stop, she didn't like stammering so she stop, "that's my grave." Her hand pointed to the picture, "I knew of it, I just..." she was crying full on now, sorry Jack! Seeing Oliver there, the backs of her family and friends, she just cried.

He grimaced, sympathy washing through him. He'd been a time-traveller; he knew about the horror of seeing your own grave and while it had never happened to him (and, frankly, wasn't likely to given his immortality) he could understand how shocking it must be.

"Hey, it's okay, let it out," he said soothingly, coming to stand beside her and wrapping a big, warm arm around her shoulders. "Being told about your own death is one thing, but seeing actual, physical evidence of it really kinda brings it home, doesn't it?"

This was very awkward, but he was kind, his hug was needed and she just cried in his shoulder. "It does," she tried to reel her emotions in, but it wasn't working for the time being. She made a little annoyed noise and sniffled, finally pulling away from him.

"I'm sorry," she told him as she moved her hand to wipe her face, "It's just became so real now, you know?" she offered and cleared her throat and her hands moved to rub her face.

It wasn't awkward at all in Jack's book. He was after all quite uniquely qualified to understand this sort of thing. The only thing that was awkward, really, was his resemblance to Malcolm Merlyn, and he was grateful that she seemed able to look past that to accept his comfort, at least for the moment.

"Yeah, I know," he said sympathetically, fishing out a clean white handkerchief as she moved away and offering it to her to mop her face. "It's a scary thing to have to face, and no-one's ever prepared for it. Do you know how far in your future it is?" There was no-one he recognised in that picture, to give him a clue as to relative dating.
