He knows how much Jack gets off on knowing what he and Spike do, but he's not so sure Spike does the same. Jack plays rough.

[ Dru would've loved him, Spike's sure of it. A never breaking toy, just for her and while he doesn't mind hearing about their exploits or catching the odd bruise, this is still territory that's a little unsteady for him. Dru was the torture fan, she and Angel, Spike never indulged in it for sexy purposes. It's like mixing work and pleasure and it doesn't always turn out well.

That said, this is an opportunity he can't pass up. Pressing his hand a little firmer against Ianto's back, he starts for the dance floor. ]

I believe I owe you a dance. You can tell me in the meantime.

[And in this case? Oh yes, he absolutely asked. It was his idea from start to finish. He thinks a lot of people might be surprised at how often that's the case with the two of them.

Even with the unusual conversation topic he's very happy to have Spike steer him out onto the dance floor. The only other time they've done this was in the Bronze, in his dream.]

[ It's probably no surprise that Spike is a good dancer even outside of dreams. He's good with his body, knows how to move and even more so, move with a partner, attention fully focused on Ianto as if the rest of the world doesn't exist and to him, it doesn't. When he dances with someone like this, they're all that matters. His focal point, his northern star, his everything. ]

[Ianto's fine with him taking the lead on the dancing. He certainly seems to be the better dancer of the two of them which makes sense when you have an extra hundred years of practice.]

Oh, aren't you the detective? It was something we'd been looking for an excuse to do for awhile now so I came up with one. In the library, I might add. I've got quite a few interesting bruises for you to examine. [They're all accurate details but he suspects they're not quite what Spike wants so now it's his turn to lean in closer and whisper in his ear.] And for the record, I loved it.

Or I just like you a lot. [A smile that's much less about sex and entirely genuinely happy. A part of it certainly is about being with both of them, about not wanting either of them to feel like they're second best or a backup or anything like that. This thing they have is complicated, and he knew it would be going into this but it's worth it and he's always worked to make sure what he and Spike have is a real relationship, complete and independent from what he has with Jack. Well, independent aside from the occasional bruise to take advantage of.]

I love you. [He's probably not ever going to get over saying that to him. And that right there is the biggest different between him and Jack, the thing that makes each of their relationships work so well. He and Jack have always communicated best through sex. It's what works for them, the way they get through the good times and the bad ones and stay connected. It always has been. Spike is more talking and romance and emotional connection and having things so different makes him appreciate both of them more.]

Just think, a hundred days ago we were barely speaking to each other and now here we are dancing at one of these things. I'll admit I didn't really see that coming.

[ Definitely for the best. That's a thing they can't do, as far as he's concerned, because that would mean living together the three of them and he can't handle that much Jack on a day to day basis.

He can, however, follow suggestions, lean in and kiss Ianto with love and passion that's probably more suited for private quarters, hands sliding down his body again to see just how tender those bruises are. ]

[It's not something he thinks will ever really happen, and he likes how they have it now. He's been trying to split his nights more or less evenly between the two of them, and while it's not quite moving in but it's good enough for him just now.

And who cares about what situation it's more suited for, who cares if anyone is watching, he's so happy to be kissing him just now. He shifts against those hands, skin tender and stinging hot under them which is fine by him.
