[Hugs are good! He will take all of them, and maybe Kitty needs them, too.] I was going to ask for your help in remembering the design of the real prison, but maybe that should wait for another day.

[Maybe she does at that.] The real prison? You having some inspiration?

It was pointed out to me that we will need a plan if we do successfully make it there. There were no accessible controls or doors or anything remotely useful-looking that I remember, but my memory is imperfect.

Plans are good. But you're right. I was trying to find things to exploit and coming up short. Doesn't mean they weren't there though. I was...a little distracted.

As was I. [Which he regrets. Past-Pavel did Present-Pavel no favors.] I was wishing that there was a way to try this on a small scale—with one person, who could, if it worked and they were not caught too soon, examine the real prison carefully.

Wishing or planning? [Do you have something in mind.] And who would we want the one person to be?

Okay, yes, planning. [When did she learn that "wishing" and "thinking" actually mean "planning"?] It would be me, of course. If something goes wrong, I would want it to be me. Also, I'm faster and sneakier than you might think.

[This would come up the same day Nathan wanted her to promise not to do this very sort of thing, wouldn't it? Because standing here looking at Chekov she very much wants to tell him no, that it should be her instead.]

...................You...You'll have to train me on everything you have set up so I'm ready if something goes wrong on this end. [She hates this. She hates this a lot.]

[It has nothing to do with the part where they share a player. Totally coincidence.

He's glad that she doesn't fight him; he had expected that and it's not an argument that he wanted to have.]
Yes, I would. I would show you everything.

And nothing goes wrong because you're coming back safe. [She knows he can't promise that part.]

It would be a poor plan if I don't return to share what information I gather. [No, no promises.]

Good point and you wouldn't set me up with a poor plan. We aren't doing it until we can do it safely. [Just imagine how she'll feel when she finds out Reid wants to do something similar to himself only worse.]

[Escaping, it seems, is more important to these jerks than not traumatizing Kitty with their possible failures. She needs better people to hang out with.

Chekov doesn't really want her to be distressed, though.]
Kitty, please don't underestimate my desire to find a way out of Marina and stay alive. Nothing will be done until it can be done with a high probability of success.

[She nods. Her fear of loss is making it harder to lead. Sometimes these things have to be done. She knows that.] I believe you.

...If we do get out someday I think I'm actually going to miss this place.

Good, thank you. [And she should because Chekov doesn't lie about serious things.]

As a prison, it could be worse, but I think that I would miss the company more.

I guess that's what I mean. There isn't anywhere else we'd all be together. [So she'd have to choose.]

The unfortunate downside of prison. [The delivery was playful, but he's reminded of all of the people from the City he'll never see again. He kept a list, once, of all of their names and his favorite things about them, but it was lost in the move between universes.] Ideally, there would be a choice to stay.

Yeah, but...then there'd also be the choice to leave and I wouldn't blame people for taking it. [And Chekov and Reid both would she's sure. Ton might stay here with Chuck.]

It's not really worth thinking about too much. Too many variables. Hey, I need to pick a couple of things up for the apartment, so I should probably go. I'll see you soon?

[He will leave. He wants to tell Kitty that the offer to come with him is still good, but it bothered her last time. Hopefully she remembers it.]

You're right, of course, and we have time. No one will be escaping tomorrow. [He nods and removes all of his limbs from Kitty's person. It was a good hug session.] Kitty? Thank you for showing me your disc.

[She remembers. It meant a lot to her even if it was difficult to think of going anywhere but home with Reid.

She approves of these hug fests though. She never imagined she would when she first arrived.]
Thanks for showing me yours too. [Though she's sorry about it's content she's glad they could talk about it at least a little.]

[It was a relief, in a way, to have someone else know about what happened at the Academy. Everyone who knew about it from first-hand involvement is dead, and keeping it to himself only made it seem like a shameful secret. Still, Kitty's was much nicer, and he will need to remind her of that dance outfit in the future.]

Of course, and yes, I'll see you soon, I'm sure.

[She gives him a little kiss on the cheek since she's thinking about his disc again and he's close enough for it. Then a smile as she backs up to head off.]

You better.

[This is the best he's ever felt about almost drowning, which he does not say as she leaves. Always end conversations on a high note.]
