[ quinn's never had the best of luck in the dome, but today, the wardens decided to treat her a little more kindly. she wanted to ask them (eventually, once she worked up the courage to ask for something so personal) for a picture of beth, but she never expected anything like this: a disc full of all her favorite memories. it's better than anything she could have hoped to receive, and she might have spent the better part of this morning sitting on the floor next to her bed, weeping tears of joy.

it's put her in the best mood she's been in a long time. enough to head down to the salon and get her hair cut and spend the rest of the afternoon in the park, where she can be found sitting next to the koi pond, alternating between tossing food in for the fish and replaying her disc. ]

[adjusting to life here has been difficult. john has kept himself from meeting too many new people other than those he met on his first day and he still keeps in contact with elena, but he's drawn to the parks. he's drawn to the outside which he never got to experience in his life really, growing up behind walls, hiding out in an abandoned subway.

he hasn't watched his disc. he doesn't know if he wants to, but he does see quinn there with her disc, the sound of the baby crying as well as the joy she clearly gets from watching, a kind of joy he has a feeling only a mother or father would know.]

That's a really beautiful baby. ...sorry, I didn't mean to- [he waves a hand apologetically, infringe on her privacy basically.]

[ on another day, perhaps, she would've snapped at him for eavesdropping. but today, she's far too delighted to care. she has something to remember beth by, something that's far better than a photograph or one of her stuffed animals. video of herself and her baby... it's more than she feels she deserves. ]

Thank you, [ she says, and she can't help but beam with pride. ] And don't worry. I think everyone's been playing theirs today. It's kind of hard not to watch them when you come across someone who keeps replaying theirs.

[ a couple years ago, when she was still a high school junior trying desperately to salvage the what was left of her reputation after having a baby and spending the summer getting her body back into shape, she might've been disinclined to answer. might've hid whatever pride she felt in her daughter. but now, all she can do is keep beaming. honestly, she's grateful and can't pass up the opportunity to babble about her baby girl. ]

I think I've heard of them actually. I don't know if I could figure out one of their songs off the top of my head. [Roger Price liked to listen to them, and John heard a few of their songs when he was around the man as he was growing up.]

[Chekov is in the park with a very different mindset. He didn't appreciate what he saw on the disc and, when work failed to distract him sufficiently, he decided to take a walk. Clear his head, admire the fish swimming in the pond. Since Quinn is there, he ought to say hello to her, as well.

He doesn't, however, look over her shoulder to see what she's watching. That could be a very personal matter.]

[ her good mood can't be tamed, and she eagerly holds out the disc to show him what's on it. the images of quinn holding both newborn beth right after her delivery and the older, fussy toddler loop. this ought to explain why that empty cradle freaked her out so much in that hotel. ] This is Beth.
