335 - Daffodil Dive mingle
[ Chuck hadn't anticipated all these people showing up on the day of the grand re-opening, but there's food and drink a-plenty and what's a few more guests, really?

The Daffodil Dive, once known as the infamous Devil's Compass, has seen a deep scrub and a fresh coat of paint, warm and inviting in yellow and orange, with the occasional friendly skull painted on the walls and bar. There's flowers and fragrant herbs in pots and vases, adorning the tables or filling up dark corners. Lit candles illuminate the room, with plenty of food laid out a couple of the tables — pies (savoury and sweet) and cupcakes, fresh fruit and vegetables, little hors d'oeuvres, more elaborate dishes courtesy of Piper and Sizzle and Sear. The bar will be open, champagne glasses already filled with bubblies both alcoholic and non.

Come! Enjoy your time in prison! ]

You'd be surprised. [He's not the same now, at least. He's a different man in a lot of measures but from what she's seen of him, he's not surprised that she thinks that. He would've never apologized for his work before and even now he won't, just because he's still against admitting just how much wrong he's done with his own two hands. He won't own up to it all yet, refuses to deal with it tonight. But there are things for which he's sorry...

[ It doesn't make it right. It doesn't take away the hurt for Ianto and it doesn't get the bloodstains out of the floorboards but it still counts for something. She's always cared too deeply about the wrong people and they were pretty good friends once.

Biting her bottom lip, she takes him by the elbow to drag him outside. Can't hug him in here, in plain sight. Not today. ]

[ It's not so much that she wants him to leave right away, though that's definitely part of the plan. A part of her aches for him, wishes he could've shown up on a different day so they could've talked and worked all this through. It's not cut and dry, she understands that much.

Once around the corner, she pulls him in close for a hug, careful not to squish the cake. ]

[He doesn't understand but he goes with it; like Allen confused him, she does, with an unrelenting belief in the good in people. Even those who don't deserve it or want it. Now it's all that more conflicting and she's hugging him and he just takes it, out of sight and gingerly lifting one arm. He can't quite embrace her back, his fingers curl to but then stop.]

I don't disagree. [Softly.]

[ She doesn't want to leave. Not really because she has a feeling she won't see him again and that sucks but this is one party she can't sneak out from for too long. So she bites her bottom lip and gives him a look and then just turns. Walks away. Hopes deep down they can have that talk tomorrow and she can get him a coffee and things will work out.

Knows that probably won't happen. ]
