Day 324 - Power Play mingle
[There's no fanfare today. The museum has something about the benefits of sheep's wool. There are no decorations up. The clothing shops have the same sort of stock they had yesterday. And there are no specialized dishes at the restaurants, but you can probably find a power bar at the convenience store, but there's nothing new there.

What is new is whatever power you woke up with or without today. What you do with that is up to you and whomever you encounter.]

That would make conversations confusing. [And, to unintentionally make this conversation confusing, he lapses back into Russian right about here. He has no idea that she doesn't have a functioning translator.] I have found myself facing this same problem when I talk to Starfleet officers from slightly different universes.

[She nodded, but then looked confused as he finished up his second statement.]

Huh? You're uh... talking Russian again.

[She laughed a little sheepishly.]

[How confusing! This hasn't happened here before. He goes back to English.]

Is your translator malfunctioning?

Ah... haha... kind of.

[She looked a little sheepish.]

I kind of helped with a thing last night, and it got us in trouble with the computer... so now they turned off my translator.

It's only for a day, though, so I should be able to understand everyone again tomorrow.

[Because he participated in the Tyki debacle and listened to the list of daily punishments is a genius, he's able to deduce her crime. Be amazed.]

You were helping with Tyki? By hacking?

An interesting choice of punishment. I hope that it has not inconvenienced you badly.

[She nodded.]

I was with Tieria. I disabled one of the bots for him by shorting it out with my phasing power, and then the two of us hacked into the system through the bot.

[She shrugged.]

It's a little weird asking people if they know English and asking them to switch if they accidentally go back to their native language, but I can deal. Plus, it's only one day.

You have that in common with the other Kitty, then, in addition to your powers—technological knowledge. I was not very involved; tell me, how successful was the attempt?

It's fortunate that so many of us speak English.

Yeah. I've been lucky about that language thing so far.

[She shrugged a little.]

We're not entirely sure, to be honest. It looked successful, but then no one's heard from the person in question, yet, today. And, well, with all the crazy power things going on, he might not even know something was done to him until tomorrow.
