I fought back when you attacked me. [Sort of.] That didn't stop you, and it wouldn't have done any good against Tyki at all.

[He has to consider that question. No, he absolutely does not want to die but he's spent so long knowing he dies back home that he's become almost numb to the idea, resigned. Death wasn't the worst part of what Tyki did, in the end. It was everything leading up to it that he wasn't prepared for.] It doesn't matter if I want to or not. I already did.

This is plain stupid and honestly, Jack at least should know better. You can't lock someone in the apartment and pretend that protects them.

[Ianto was never really supposed to be a field agent. Maybe that's why Jack has never treated him like one. He probably wouldn't have tried to hide Gwen in the apartment, even if she would have let him - which she wouldn't have. He would have trusted her to take care of herself. And maybe it's a blind apot because he cares too much or because Ianto never really got all those long intimate hours of training but whatever it is Jack always moves to protect him, and maybe he's started to assume that's the only way he can react to situations.
